The Rathores of Jodhpur originally came from Ujjain . Facts Rao Sinha was the founder of the Rathore dynasty of Jodhpur. He was the great grandson of Jaichand Garhwal of Kannauj. Rao Chunda was the first important rathore ruler of Marwar. A princess of the Parihar rulers of Mandore named Mohil married Chunda. This was during the era of rapid ascendency of the Rathod clan, and Chunda received Mandore in dowry. The town remained the seat of the Rathore clan until 1459 AD. He made mandore the capital of Marwar. He married his daughter Hansa Bai to the ruler of Mewar named Rana Lakha. On May 12, 1459 Rao Jodha founded Jodhpur city. In the year 1661 the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb ordered Daud Khan Panni the trusted Subedar of Bihar with and army of 6,400 to defeat the rebel Pratap Rao before storming his fortress at Palamau . In 1703, Daud Khan was appointed as the Nawab of the Carnatic . Before he was made Nawab, the Emperor Aurangazeb appointed him as a leading commander of the Mughal Army in 1701, while Zulfikhar Ali Khan was the Nawab. Daud Khan made his bases at Arcot and often received assistance from Asaf Jah I the Faujdar of the Carnatic and Talikota . During his tenure, he made frequent visits to Santhome and tried to develop it. But due to the efforts of Thomas Pitt , the then Governor of the British East India Company , Daud Khan had to defer his plans. Like Zulfikhar Ali Khan, Daud Khan also enjoyed the confidence of the Emperor Aurangazeb and had control over all the territories south of the River Krishna . In one of his visits to Fort St. George , the streets were lined with soldiers. The line of soldiers was from the St. Thome Gate up to the Fort and the certain of the inner Fort was manned by train bands. The Governor, Thomas Pitt, conducted him into the Fort, carried him up to his lodgings. Such was the respect he commanded with the East India Company. In the year 1710 Daud Khan Panni was recalled from the Deccan and served alongside the Mughal commander Abdus Samad Khan. Later, Daud Khan Panni was appointed as the Subedar of Gujerat by Farrukhsiyar . In a secret letter Farrukhsiyar coerced Daud Khan Panni to kill Sayyid Brothers Hassan Ali Khan , and become Viceroy of the Deccan . A prolonged siege of Jhok resulted in the offer of negotiations from Kalhora commander and Sufi Inayat accepted the offer to avoid further bloodshed. Reign Role of the Syed Brothers As Rafi ul Darajat owed his throne to the Syed Brothers they took full advantage of this. They wanted him to be a puppet ruler and so took steps to curtail his power. The previous emperor Furrukhsiyar was deposed by the Syed Brothers as he had tried to maintain his independence. Rival claim to throne The reign of Rafi Ul Darjat was one of turbulence. On 18 May 1719, less than three months after his own accession, Rafi Ul Darjat s uncle, Neku Siyar Nekusiyar , assumed the throne at the Agra Fort as he thought he was more eligible for the post. The Syed Brothers were extremely determined to defend the emperor they had raised to the throne and punish the offender. They swiftly succeeded. Only three months after Neku Siyar Nekusiyar s enthronement, the fort surrendered and Nekusiyar was captured.
