Architectural endoscopy is an imaging technology that allows realistic views of a scale architectural model to be created, using analog circuit analog equipment. Architectural endoscopy attempts to solve the problems encountered by many people who find the visualization of architectural plan s difficult, if not impossible. Often these views provided by architectural endoscopy are superior to computer rendering s due to more realistic lighting and colour rendition . An endoscope connected to a video camera allows for the creation of walkthroughs, allowing the public to share and critique the architect s vision of proposed buildings and cities. This term endoscopy reflects a certain procedure or action connected with observing inner spaces. As far as architecture is concerned they can be both interiors of residential and civil buildings and interior territories of complex industrial enterprises, settlements, neighbourhoods in towns. Therapeutic endoscopy is the medical term for an endoscopic procedure during which treatment is carried out via the endoscope. This contrasts with Endoscopy diagnostic endoscopy , where the aim of the procedure is purely to visualise a part of the Gastrointestinal tract gastrointestinal , Respiratory tract respiratory or urinary tract in order to aid diagnosis . In practice, a procedure which starts as a diagnostic endoscopy may become a therapeutic endoscopy depending on the findings, such as in cases of upper gastrointestinal bleeding , or the finding of polyp s during colonoscopy . They are passed in sequentially increasing sizes to dilate the obstructed area. They must be used with precaution in patients with narrow strictures, as they may curl proximal to the obstruction. The most commonly used mercury weighted bougies are the Maloney bougie dilators. Bougie over guidewire dilators are used at the time of esophagogastroduodenoscopy gastroscopy or fluoroscopy . An endoscopy is usually performed first to evaluate the anatomy, and a guidewire is passed into the stomach past the obstruction. This may also be done fluoroscopically. Bougies are again introduced this time over the guidewire in sequentially increasing sizes. The most commonly used bougie over guidewire dilators are the Savary or Savary Gilliard dilators. Image Bow and arrow 2.jpg thumb right 200px Colonscopy image of the cecum showing a bow and arrow sign . The appendiceal orifice, depicted, curves like a bow weapon bow to show the location of the ileocecal valve on the most distal cecal fold. The bow and arrow sign is an endoscopy endoscopic sign medical sign for determining the location of the ileocecal valve during colonoscopy . Identifying the ileocecal valve in a colonoscopy is important, as it indicates that the entire colon anatomy colon has been visualized. The identifiable landmarks in the cecum are the vermiform appendix appendiceal orifice which is a curvilinear indent indicating the location of the appendix from the lumen of the bowel, and the ileocecal valve, which appears as a puckering in the most distal fold of the cecum. Orphan date February 2009 Ductoscopy or mammary ductoscopy is a medical diagnostic procedure for viewing and collecting epithelial cells and other internal features of the milk ducts . It is capable of detecting smaller abnormalities than mammogram s, MRI or ultrasound tests. Ductoscopy can be performed in a physician s office or as an outpatient in a clinic. A fiber optic scope less than a millimeter thick is inserted into the milk duct at the nipple and threaded deep into the breast through the duct. No incision is involved. An imaging system displays the output of the scope on a computer monitor. Samples of epithelial cells can be collected onto microscope slide s for further analysis. Local anesthetic may be employed to reduce discomfort. Latest Mammary Ductoscope, also called Micro Endoscope, is available with the diameter of 0.35 mm. The endoscopes is used along with a 3 way cannula. The other two ports are used for saline irrigation and Biopsy Forceps of 0.4mm diameter. Ductoscopy can also be performed in conjunction with a lumpectomy , allowing the surgeon to achieve clean margins with a minimum of excess tissue removed.
