It was started by the IT Association of Montenegro in 2006 as an experimental project. Its goal is to provide a base for a future Montenegrin Wikipedia . It has announced that 2008 will be the year of development of the project, however as of late 2008, it is nonfunctional. It used the MediaWiki software, running at version 1.6.8, and contains no advertisements. By 9 January 2008, Crnogorska Enciklopedija had had just over 1,000 articles. Like Wikipedia, the articles are released under the GNU Free Documentation License . Located at 11 Nikola ubi Zrinski Square , it forms part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Hrvatske Akademija Znanosti i Umjetnosti . The Strossmayer Gallery holding includes around 4,000 works, of which some 250 are on display, with the remainder in storage, or on display at other museums or gallery institutions in Croatia. ref name mdc History The Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters opened in November 1884, named after its founder, Josip Juraj Strossmayer, the bishop of akovo. The Academy itself, with the bishop as patron, had been founded in 1866 and had moved into its specially built premises in the Zrinevac park in 1880, with a floor reserved to house the bishop s art collection. ref name Croatia aspects art Bishop Strossmayer had been buying paintings for 30 years, since his appointment as bishop of akovo in 1850. He began with Italian art, mainly Renaissance works from Florence and Venice.
