Examples include sending an electronic mail or instant message , communicating with a Web site , saving or copying a file and running a computer program . Overview Electronic Actions are caused by humans, not by automated processes. Computer users typically carry out hundreds of Electronic Actions every day indeed the adoption of email, instant messaging and the World Wide Web has been entirely dependent upon the Electronic Actions of those who use them. While Electronic Actions certainly existed before the rise of the Internet , they were limited to skilled computer users carrying out very specific tasks. With the rise of personal computers and the Internet, Electronic Actions can now be carried out by anyone, anywhere. 1. Electronic document

An electronic document is any electronic media Content media and publishing content other than computer program s or system Computer file file s that are intended to be used in either an electronic form or as printed output. Originally, any computer data were considered as something internal &mdash the final data output was always on paper . However, the development of computer network s has made it so that in most cases it is much more convenient to distribute electronic documents than printed ones. And the improvements in electronic display technologies mean that in most cases it is possible to view documents on screen instead of printing them thus saving paper and the space required to store the printed copies . However, using electronic documents for final presentation instead of paper has created the problem of multiple incompatible file format s. Even plain text computer file s are not free from this problem &mdash e.g. under MS DOS , most programs could not work correctly with Unix UNIX style text files see newline , and for non English speakers, the different code page s always have been a source of trouble. Even more problems are connected with complex file format s of various word processor s, spreadsheet s and graphics software . To alleviate the problem, many software companies distribute free file viewer s for their proprietary file formats one example is Adobe Systems Adobe s Portable Document Format Acrobat Reader . The other solution is the development of standardized non Proprietary software proprietary file format s such as HTML and OpenDocument , and electronic documents for specialized uses have specialized formats&ndash the specialized electronic article s in physics use TeX or PostScript . reflist See also Document Electronic Document Professional Electronic page Electronic paper Paperless office Born digital Xplor international The Electronic Document ... is a digital document http www.msimaging.com faq.asp Digital Imaging Frequent Questions Category Electronic ...   more details

  1. Electronic notetaking

orphan date October 2009 Electronic notetaking ENT , also known as computer assisted notetaking CAN , is a system that provides virtually simultaneous access to spoken information to people who are deaf and hard of hearing , facilitating equal participation with their hearing colleagues, coworkers, and classmates. ENT is most often used in educational or training sessions, but can also be used at health care appointments, meetings , or interviews . Using dedicated software, a trained operator types a summary of the spoken information into a computer at a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute . The text is then projected on a screen or transmitted to a second computer. The text also provides a written record of sessions, which is particularly useful for deaf and hard of hearing attendees because taking notes whilst lip reading or watching a sign language Interpreting interpreter is difficult. Adoption of ENT began in the 1990s, when changes in disability legislation, such as the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Disability Discrimination Act DDA in the UK , made support more available.
