His son, the third Baron, assumed the additional surname of Harvey. On the death of his younger son, the fifth Baron, who succeeded his elder brother in 1869, the line of the eldest son of the second Baron failed. The late Baron was succeeded by his first cousin, the sixth Baron. He was the son of the Hon. Martin Bladen Edward, second son of the second Baron. His son, the seventh Baron, was a successful cricketer. On his death the title passed to his younger brother, the eighth Baron.     Bladen Wilmer Hawke, 9th Baron Hawke 31 December 1901 5 July 1985 , was a United Kingdom British Conservative Party UK Conservative politician. Hawke was the eldest son of Edward Julian Hawke, 8th Baron Hawke, and his wife Frances Alice, daughter of Colonel John Randal Wilmer. He succeeded his father in the barony in 1939 and served as a Lord in Waiting government whip in the House of Lords from 1953 to 1957 in the Conservative administrations of Winston Churchill Sir Winston Churchill , Anthony Eden Sir Anthony Eden and Harold Macmillan . From 1958 to 1974 he was a Church Commissioners Church Commissioner . Lord Hawke married Ina Mary Faure, daughter of Henry Faure Walker, in 1934. They had seven daughters Caroline, Annabel, Cecilia, Lavinia, Rowena, Prunella and Olivia. He died in July 1985, aged 83.     Edward Hawke Locker 9 October 1777, East Malling , Kent 16 October 1849, Iver , Buckinghamshire was an English watercolourist producing works now in the V&A and British Museum and administrator of the Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich . Life He was the fourth of five surviving child and youngest son of the Napoelonic era naval captain William Locker Royal Navy William Locker , and was named after his father s patron Admiral Edward Hawke . Entering the navy pay office as a clerk on 1 June 1795, he served in its India department from 1799 and the board of naval enquiry before becoming a prize agent and Edward Pellew s civil secretary during his East Indies, North Sea and Mediterranean commands from 1804 to 1814. He was in England in July 1802, when he accompanied the French balloonist Andr Jacques Garnerin on his second English ascent during the Peace of Amiens . He also spent time in Spain in 1813 during the Peninsular War alongside Lord John Russell, 6th Duke of Bedford John Russell , bringing despatches to Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington Wellington , as well as visiting Napoleon in May 1814 during his Elba exile. He was married in 1815 to Eleanor Mary Elizabeth Boucher, whose father the Revd Jonathan Boucher had once been a friend of George Washington . Their children included the poet Frederick Locker Lampson 1821 1895 and the novelist journalist Arthur Locker 1828 1893 , later the editor of The Graphic .     Six ships of the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Hawke , after an archaic spelling of the bird, the hawk . Two of the later ships were named after Edward Hawke, 1st Baron Hawke , whilst another was planned HMS Hawke 1593 6 was a discovery vessel launched in 1593. Her fate is unknown. HMS Hawke 1655 6 was an 8 gun ketch launched in 1655 and sold in 1667. HMS Hawke 1690 6 was an 8 gun fire ship launched in 1690 and sunk as a foundation in 1712. HMS Hawke 1721 6 was an 8 gun sloop of war sloop launched in 1721 and foundered in 1739. HMS Hawke 1820 6 was laid down as a 74 gun third rate ship of the line , but was altered to carry 60 guns before being launched in 1820.
