Bradley was born in East Bloomfield, New York and attended the common schools and the local academy in Canandaigua city , New York Canandaigua . He was associate judge of the common pleas court of Ontario County, New York Ontario County in 1836. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1839 where he studied law and was admitted to the bar law bar in 1841. He commenced practice in Marshall, Michigan Marshall and became prosecuting attorney of Calhoun County, Michigan Calhoun County in 1842. He was a member of the Michigan State Senate in 1842 and 1843 and developed a reputation as a gifted orator and stump speaker. Edward Taylor 1784 1863 was an English singer, writer on music, and Gresham Professor of Music from 1837. Life The son of John Taylor Unitarian hymn writer John Taylor , he was born at Norwich on 22 January 1784. From 1808 to 1815 Edward Taylor was in business at the corner of Rampant Horse Street, Norwich. He was sheriff of Norwich in 1819. In 1825 he moved to London and joined his brother Philip Taylor civil engineer Philip Taylor and his cousin, John Martineau, as civil engineers at York Place, City Road. Want of success in the business led him to enter the musical profession in 1827, when he was forty three years old. His early musical education had been somewhat desultory he had taken lessons from John Christmas Beckwith , organist of Norwich Cathedral , and on the flute and oboe from William Fish . For the first triennial Norwich musical festival of 1824 he had trained the chorus, engaged the band and singers, and made out the programme. His early successes were as singer he had a rich bass voice and commanding presence. He sang at the festival of 1827, and conducted those of 1839 and 1842. For the festival of 1830 he translated Louis Spohr s Last Judgment, which was then performed for the first time in England. He was on good terms with Spohr, who was his guest at 3 Regent Square, King s Cross, in 1839 and 1847. He visited Spohr at Kassel Cassel in 1840. Edward Hutton 12 April 1875 20 August 1969 was a British author of travel literature travel books and various Italian subjects. Life and Work ref Pine, L. He was educated at Highgate School but on the death of his father in 1890 his mother removed with her six children to Somerset and Edward went as a day boy to Blundell s School , Tiverton. From an early age he applied himself to the study of the Greek and Roman classics. Instead of going up to Oxford, and having decided he was to be a writer, he chose to work in publishing in London. An unrewarding first position gave place to one with John Lane, founder of the Bodley Head , and publisher of the major works of the nineties which significantly influenced his style . Inheriting 5000 on his coming of age in 1896 he made his first journey to Italy and from then on he spent most of his life getting to know the Italians and their civilization. In 1898 he married Charlotte Miles, daughter of George Miles, a tea merchant in the City of London. From around 1901 they rented the Villa di Boccaccio at Settignano above Florence, which city became Hutton s spiritual home. The many English residents there who became his friends included Bernard Berenson and Norman Douglas while in 1917 he was instrumental with others in establishing the British Institute of Florence . Edward Leigh 24 March 1602 2 June 1671 was a versatile English lay writer, known particularly for his works on religious topics, and a politician who sat in the House of Commons of England House of Commons from 1645 to 1648. He fought for the Roundheads Parliamentary army in the English Civil War Life Leigh was born at Shawell , Leicestershire , the son of Henry Leigh. He matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford on 24 October 1617, and graduated B.A. in 1620, M.A. in 1623. ref Venn LH634E ref Before leaving Oxford he entered the Middle Temple , and became a painstaking student of divinity, law, and history. During the plague of 1625 he spent six months in France, and busied himself in making a collection of French proverbs. He subsequently moved to Banbury , Oxfordshire , to be near William Wheatly , whose preaching he admired. In the Civil War, Leigh became a colonel in the parliamentary army. On 30 September 1644 he presented to parliament a petition from Staffordshire parliamentarians complaining of cavalier oppression, and made a speech, which was printed. He was known for swing music swing and sweet dance music, as well as boogie woogie songs, many of which were written by Don Raye . Born in Newton, New Jersey , Schwictenberg was one of the premier trombonists on the New York swing scene, and he often participated in jam sessions broadcast on The CBS Saturday Night Swing Club .
