  1. David IX of Georgia

David IX of Georgia died 1360 , from the Bagrationi dynasty, was king of Georgia country Georgia from 1346 until his death. Family David was the only known son of George V of Georgia . The identity of his mother is not known. The Georgian Chronicle of the 18th century reports George V marrying a daughter of the Greek Emperor, Lord Michael Komnenos . However the reigning dynasty of the Byzantine Empire in the 14th century were the Palaiologos Palaiologoi , not the Komnenoi. The marriage of a daughter of Michael IX Palaiologos and his wife Rita of Armenia to a Georgian ruler is not recorded in Byzantine sources. 1. Vakhtang, son of David IV of Georgia

Vakhtang lang ka or Tsuata lang ka c. 1118 1138 was the Georgia country Georgian Bagrationi Bagratid prince and the son of King of Georgia King David IV of Georgia David IV the Builder r. 1089 1125 , probably of his second marriage to the Kipchaks in Georgia Kipchak princess Gurandukht, daughter of Otrok . The 12th century document The Will of King David contains a vague and controversial passage whereby David instructs the eldest son and heir apparent Demetrius I of Georgia Demetrius I to rear his younger brother Vakhtang and make him a successor to the throne if the latter proves to be capable . Given the Georgian order of succession based on primogeniture and indication that an attempted coup against Demetrius in the 1130s involved Vakhtang , many modern scholars in Georgia consider the passage to be a latter day forgery by Vakhtang s sympathizers. A reference to the aristocratic plot against Demetrius on behalf of Vakhtang is found in the contemporaneous Armenia n chronicle by Vardan Areveltsi Vardan although the author does not directly names the rebellious prince. This plot, intended to assassinate Demetrius I, was directed by the influential nobleman Ivane Abuletisdze and his son Kirkish. The king was timely warned by Ivane s father Abulet. Vakhtang was captured, blinded and cast in prison where he apparently died shortly afterwards. ref Lordkipanidze, Mariam 1987 , Georgia in the XI XII Centuries, p. 129.
