Duryu is a Administrative divisions of South Korea Dong Neighborhood dong in Dalseo gu , western Daegu , South Korea . It is the site of Duryu Park and Woobang Tower Land , a popular Daegu amusement park . Although legally a single dong , Duryu dong is divided into three administrative dong Duryu 1 il , 2 i , and 3 sam dong . Together, the three administrative dong cover 2.44 km . They are home to 34,280 people as of October 31, 2005 . The region s name comes from Duryu san , the hill on which Daegu Tower is situated. It is a hanja transcription of a dialect term meaning round , referring to the hill s rounded shape. Daegu Subway Line 2 passes through Duryu dong, as does the Dalgubeol Expressway . A large number of clinics and hospitals are located in the area. A largely rural district lying along the Nakdong River , it makes up nearly half of Daegu s total area. It is divided in half by a narrow piece of Dalseo gu that reaches west to the river. Like the other local government units in South Korea, Dalseong gun enjoys a moderate degree of local autonomy . The county magistrate and council are elected by the local citizens, although their authority is sharply curtailed. The seat of government is located in Nongong eup . The current magistrate is Lee Jong jin . Dalseong gun enters historical records in 757, as Daegu hyeon , a subsidiary of Suchang gun modern day Suseong gu . Dalseong gun became part of Daegu Metropolitan City in 1995, as part of a general reform of local governments. As the near hinterland of Daegu, Dalseong gun is known as a center of truck farming and tourism. Landmarks of Dalseong gun include Biseulsan and the Naengcheon resort area beneath Paljoryeong . The name Dalseong means Dal Castle, and comes from the earlier name of Daegu, Dalgubeol . Other places sharing this name include Dalseong Park in central Daegu.   1. History of Daegu

    Throughout and before recorded history, Daegu has served as a wikt nexus nexus of transportation, lying as it does at the junction of the Geumho and Nakdong rivers. During the Joseon Dynasty , the city was the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the entire Gyeongsang region, a role largely taken over now by Busan in South Gyeongsang . Prehistory and Early history main Prehistory of Korea Archaeological investigations in the Greater Daegu area have revealed a large number of settlements and burials of the prehistoric Mumun Pottery Period c. 1500 300 B.C. . In fact, some of the earliest evidence of Mumun settlement in Gyeongsang Province have been unearthed in Daegu at Siji dong and Seobyeon dong YUM 1999a . The Dongcheon dong site is a substantial village of the Middle Mumun c. 850 550 B.C. and contains the remains of many prehistoric pit houses and agricultural fields. Megalithic burials dolmens have also been found in large numbers in Daegu YICP 2002 . During the Proto Three Kingdoms of Korea period, Daegu was the site of a walled town polity known in historical records as Dalgubeol . The first mention of Dalgubeol is dated to 261. Silla main Silla Silla defeated the other Three Kingdoms of Korea in the late 7th century, with assistance from Tang Dynasty Tang China.
