In 1994 he set a world record, since broken, by diving to convert 925 ft m . He is one of Deep diving Ultra deep diving only eight people who have dived below a depth of convert 800 ft m on self contained breathing apparatus. He has also made six sub five hundred foot dives, more than any other diver on record. He was attempting a dual descent with Sheck Exley in the dive which resulted in Exley s death. Bowden had aborted his dive and ascended prior to the events which led to Exley s demise.     Nuno Gomes born 1951 is a South Africa n Scuba diving SCUBA diver of Portugal Portuguese descent who holds the official current 2012 world record deep diving deep dive independently verified and approved by Guinness World Records see the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Guinness World Record books . He used self contained underwater breathing apparatus SCUBA to dive to a depth of 1,044 feet 318.25 m . This depth excludes the rope stretch of 11.68 feet 3.56 m . The dive was done in the Red Sea Dahab , off the coast of Egypt, in June 2005. Nuno s total dive time was 12 hours and 20 minutes, the descent took only 14 minutes. He is one of only two men verified by Guinness World Records to have dived on SCUBA equipment using trimix below 1,000 feet the other diver being the late John Bennett diver John Bennett , Pascal Bernab claims to have dived to 1,083 feet 330 m , including a rope stretch of 32.81 feet 10 m , in July 2005. His dive was never approved by Guinness World Records. Gomes is also a renowned Cave diving cave diver and holds the official current 2012 Guinness World Record for the deepest cave dive, done in Boesmansgat cave South Africa , to a depth of 927 feet 282.6 m , in 1996. Overview Duck baiting involved releasing a Pinioning pinioned duck on to a duck pond pond . The dog dived into the pond coursing the duck, which was unable to fly. A spectacular Underwater diving diving exhibition ensued, as the duck dived the dog dived to pursue. Inevitably, the dog could not match the duck s speed underwater and would surface in rage. The expedition was the latest in a series of Anglo Sarawak cooperative activities which commenced in 1977. Sixteen UK based cavers were in the field for varying periods of time, together with a number of officers from the Gunung Mulu National Park . Objectives The expedition was one of a series of explorations in Gunung Benarat and the northern end of Gunung Api. At the end of the 2003 expedition, a series of promising underground leads remained outstanding in the Benarat Cave s and the discovery of Whiterock Cave Gua Batu Putih , close to Blackrock Cave , offered new hopes of major extensions in Gunung Api. The expedition primary objectives in Gunung Benarat were to prove the connection of the Blue Moonlight Bay Cave and the Terikan Cave systems through the sumps which separated the components of this system. make the connection from Cobweb Cave to adjacent systems access the remaining high level entrance to the east of Tiger Cave , via a climb up the Benarat Cliffs. carry out further exploration of Sakai s Cave last explored in 1984 . The title is borrowed from the painting The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even also known as The Large Glass by Marcel Duchamp . The book is written in the form of a diary by a young wife who has disappeared. In it, the author talks frankly about oral sex and love, and chronicles her relationship with a mysterious man she meets at a library group. The author has said that she loved the idea of writing a book that dived under the surface of a woman s life, a seemingly contentedly married woman, and explored her secret world with ruthless honesty . The act of writing the work anonymously she has described as liberating . A follow up novel entitled With My Body was published in Australia and the UK in October 2011 and is scheduled to be published in the United States in 2012. According to the publisher, it is companion piece but not explicity a sequel to The Bride Stripped Bare . They were constructed by civil engineering contractors around the coast of Britain.
