  1. DCL Technology Demonstrator programme

Unreferenced date December 2007 The United States US DCL Detection Classification and Localisation demonstrator program is aimed at proving that an active torpedo detection system is able to resolve a salvo of torpedoes with sufficient time and accuracy that an anti torpedo torpedo may be fired back to hit and destroy the threat. The DCL systems consist of an active source emitter which sends high frequency pings into the water. Reflections from in water objects are received by a towed array tuned to those frequencies. By processing the reflections it is possible to determine whether objects are torpedoes, or non threat objects. The system is also combined with a passive acoustic towed array specifically designed for torpedo detection. The passive acoustic array is able to analyse the structured sound emanating from a torpedo and thereby classify the weapon type and mode of operation. Two teams are currently building alternative DCL demonstration systems, the first to test was Ultra Electronics who in 2006 successfully resolved a salvo of torpedoes. The second company APC has yet to undergo tests. The aim of the programme is to resolve threats sufficiently well that an anti torpedo torpedo may be fired at the threat to neutralise it a hard kill solution . This differs from the United Kingdom UK SSTD S2170 Surface Ship Torpedo Defence solution which utilises soft kill. tech stub navy stub Category Naval warfare DCL Category Weapons countermeasures DCL ...   more details

  1. Dialog Control Language

Dialog Control Language DCL is a high level description language and interpreter within AutoCAD for creating simple graphical dialogs. AutoLISP extensions use it to interact with the user in the AutoCAD environment. Features and usage Unlike other major GUI APIs, DCL is not a complete GUI toolkit for application programming. It is only intended for providing simple dialogs within AutoCAD. It includes basic form widgets such as text boxes, buttons, checkboxes and list boxes. DCL is object oriented it allows re use through inheritance and composition. DCL syntax is based on defining and using tiles . A tile represents a GUI widget such as a text box or a text label. Tiles also represent widgets that hold other widgets, such as columns, radio button groups and the dialogs themselves. DCL provides built in tiles for all major widgets, and new tiles can be defined through inheritance computer science inheritance and object composition composition of other tiles. DCL allows interactions with the dialog at run time by Lisp code. Certain widgets can have actions associated with them by naming an AutoLISP function to be run, and values to be passed to it. Unlike other types of GUIs, DCL dialogs cannot be changed substantially at run time. 1. Data control language

Unreferenced date December 2009 A data control language DCL is a syntax similar to a computer programming language used to control access to data stored in a database. In particular, it is a component of Structured Query Language SQL . Examples of DCL commands include Grant SQL GRANT to allow specified users to perform specified tasks. Revoke SQL REVOKE to cancel previously granted or denied permissions. The operations for which privileges may be granted to or revoked from a user or role may include Connect SQL CONNECT , Select SQL SELECT , Insert SQL INSERT , Update SQL UPDATE , Delete SQL DELETE , Execute SQL EXECUTE , and Usage SQL USAGE . In the Oracle database , executing a DCL command issues an implicit Commit data management commit . In PostgreSQL , executing DCL is transactional, and can be rolled back. Doctor of Civil Law is a degree offered by some universities, such as the University of Oxford , instead of the more common Legum Doctor Doctor of Laws LL.D. degrees. At Oxford, the degree of Doctor of Civil Law by Diploma is customarily conferred on foreign Heads of State , as well as on the Chancellor of Oxford University Chancellor of the University . The British Sovereign is unable to receive university degrees, since these would, theoretically, place her under the jurisdiction of the Chancellor of the university. Prior to her accession, the present Elizabeth II Queen did accept several honorary degrees, including an Oxford DCL in 1948 . ref See Honorary Degrees , in Ronald Allison and Sarah Riddell, eds., The Royal Encyclopedia London Basingstoke Macmillan Publishing Macmillan , 1991 , p. 264. ref The degree is a higher doctorate usually awarded on the basis of exceptionally insightful and distinctive publications that contain significant and original contributions to the study of law or politics in general. The degree of Doctor of Canon Law was replaced by the DCL after the Reformation . 1. Vinerian Professor of English Law

The Vinerian Professorship of English Law , formerly Vinerian Professorship of Common Law , was established by Charles Viner who by his will, dated 29 December 1755, left about 12,000 to the Chancellor, Masters and Scholars of the University of Oxford , to establish a Professorship of the Common Law in that University, as well as a number of Vinerian scholarships and readerships. Until the establishment of the Vinerian Chair, only Canon Law and Roman law In the West Roman Civil Law had been taught at Oxford and Cambridge. Therefore, only the Inns of Court provided any instruction in the Common Law, which was of most practical use to practitioners. Infobox Scottish Distillery Name Millburn Distillery Type Highland Image Image size Caption Location Inverness , Scotland Owner Distillers Company Ltd. Founded 1807 Status Closed dismantled Source Loch Duntelchaig Stills 1 wash, 1 spirit Capacity Brand 1 Type 1 Age 1 Cask 1 ABV 1 Type 2 Age 2 Cask 2 ABV 2 The Millburn distillery was a producer of single malt Scotch whisky that operated between 1807 and 1985. Its whisky was an important component of the Mill Burn vatted malt. History The distillery was founded as Inverness Distillery by one Mr. Welsh in 1807 sixteen years before the passage of the Excise Act of 1823, which legalized whisky distillation. It came under the control of James Rose and Alexander MacDonald in 1825, but the company was sold off four years later. In 1853, David Rose acquired the distillery and transferred control to his son, George Rose, in 1881. The younger Rose ran the distillery until 1892, when it was sold again to Andrew Haig & Co. In 1904, the distillery s name was officially changed to Millburn with the formation of the Millburn Distillery Company. In 1921, Millburn was acquired by Booth s Gin Booth s Distillers Ltd. of London . The owners were able to rebuild and restore operation after a fire damaged the distillery in 1922. Millburn became part of the Distillers Company Ltd. family as a result of the 1935 merger of Booth s with William Sanderson & Co., which itself was purchased by DCL in 1937. DCL moved Millburn under the control of Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd in 1943. Millburn was closed in 1985, and in 1988 many of the buildings were demolished to allow for the property to be re developed. In 1989, a restaurant named The Auld Distillery was opened in one of the remaining Millburn buildings.
