Dodda Dayvara Jatre is a fair conducted every 11 years in Kolar town, Karnataka . It is the festival of Kuruba Gowda s. It lasts usually for three days in either end of April or the beginning of May. The deities who are worshipped are Beereshwara , Battheshwara, Siddeshwara and Gurumurtheshwara. The temples dedicated to these deities are located in Kurubarapet , adjoining the Kolaramma Lake. The fair is attended by more than one lakh people from Karnataka and neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu . The deities are taken in procession from Kurubarpet to the Antaragange hill and back on the way the procession stops in front of all the temples, and the Coconut Miracle or Tenginakai Pavada is performed. This large number people camp on the dry bed of the Kolaramma lake, where they stay for the whole three days. The huge Kolaramma lake is usually dry during the jatre, as it coincides the time just before the start of monsoon rains and filling up of the lake. cleanup date December 2010 Coconut Miracle or Tenginakai Pavada in Kannada is performed during the festivities of Kuruba Gowda Kuruma people of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh . This involves breaking of coconuts on the heads of the devotees who are in a trance like state during the pooja of the deities, In case of the Kuruba people it is Beereshwara or Beerappa . The coconut is peeled of its fiber and the hard inner core is smashed on the head of the devotees, surprisingly there is little loss of blood or injury and is considered as a miracle by the faithfull. This type of paying gratitude to the gods is also performed by people of other communities also and is pouplar in Mariyamma temples of Tamil Nadu . Biography Goldenbaum was born in Parchim . During World War I he served as a military and he participated in the German German Revolution November Revolution . In 1919 he joined the left wing USPD and a few years later the Communist Party of Germany . From 1923 to 1925 he was a member of the city council of Parchim and from 1924 to 1932 he was a member of the Landtag of Mecklenburg Schwerin . From 1932 to 1933 he was the editor of Volkswacht , a communist newspaper. After the Nazism Nazis seized power he became a farmer and a member of the German resistance. In 1944 he was arrested and he spent the last year of the war in concentration camp Neuengamme concentration camp Neuengamme . After the war he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany Socialist Unity Party , but in 1948 he co founded the communist sponsored Democratic Farmers Party of Germany DBD . The DBD was a close ally of the Socialist Unity Party. Until 1982, Goldenbaum was the Chairman of the party. From 1949 to 1982 Goldenbaum was a member of the People s Chamber .
