The Cyprus Observer is a Turkish Cypriot owned English language weekly newspaper which includes news from both major communities. Next to Cyprus Today , it is the most widely read English language weekly newspaper in North Cyprus . The paper is also available in United Kingdom Britain and Turkey in addition to being on the internet. It is published on Fridays in the Berliner format from its Kyrenia headquarters. Editorial articles in the Cyprus Observer are generally of a political nature and are non aligned to a particular party or ideology. The paper also covers local news, sport, cultural events and entertainment. The Cyprus Observers editorial stance seems to have become more centrist in recent years and columnists such as Niyazi Kizilyurek, Brian Self , Umat Uras and Nathan Morley have been recruited to place the paper firmly in the middle market. The newspaper is owned and edited by Hasan Ekcakica , who is also the official spokesman of the Turkish Cypriot administration. In the past few years, more and more publications for the growing English speaking population of North Cyprus are appearing on the scene. Not only does the Cyprus Observer, founded in August 2005, have a local circulation, but it is also sold in London, as well as having a web page which is updated weekly www.observercyprus.com .
