    Cyprian Consiglio , OSB Cam., is a composer, a musician, and a monk of the Camaldolese branch of the Benedictine s. He was born in 1958 Phillip Daniel Consiglio Cyprian is his monastic name , and grew up near Joliet, Illinois . He spent many years living in Phoenix, Arizona Phoenix , Arizona where he worked as a professional musician, performer guitarist and vocalist , arranger and producer. He began his recording career in his early twenties, and has since gone on to record numerous collections of original music in a wide variety of styles. Though much of his early work was in Catholic liturgical music much of his latest work incorporates styles and sacred texts from a wide variety of cultures and spiritual traditions. He earned a masters degree in theology from St. John Seminary in Camarillo , California , and has spent a considerable amount of time studying both Eastern and Western spirituality, particularly under the influence of Bede Griffiths . After monastic formation and ten years living at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California, he re located near Santa Cruz, California, and currently spends about half of his time on the road performing concerts, and teaching or leading retreats mainly on the topic of the Universal Call to Contemplation. His most notable athletic accomplishment was appearing as a member of the Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics Canadian Olympic Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea where he competed in the 200 metres sprint and the 4 x 100 metres relay. Biography After hearing Diane Jones Konihowski speak after the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Cyprian Enweani began sprinting at the age of 12. By age 17, he was on the Saskatchewan Canada Games team and became the high school record holder in the 200m and 400m distances in 1982. In 1983, he participated at the Pan American Games as a member of the 4 x 100 metre relay team, which came in fourth. During his tenure at the University of Saskatchewan , where he studied and graduated from the college of medicine, Enweani set school and Canada West records in the 60m 6.84 seconds set on March 3, 1984 , 200m 21.27 seconds set on February 15, 1987 , and 300m 33.56 seconds set on February 3, 1984 . In 1988, Enweani competed at the Summer Olympics. Though he was ninth overall in the 200 metres he did not make it past the semi finals Enweani set a new Saskatchewan 200 metres record in each heat he ran, with his final race clocking in at 20.57 seconds, a personal best. Born in London to a British Navy captain, he came to New England in the 1680s, where he established a reputation for his seamanship and his chart making skills. The charts he made of the coast of northeastern North America were among the most accurate of their time. He engaged in privateering activities during King William s War in the 1690s, and was hired by the Province of Massachusetts Bay as captain of its armed vessel, the Province Galley . In that role he participated in several military actions during Queen Anne s War , including Benjamin Church military officer Benjamin Church s 1704 Raid on Grand Pr raids of Acadia , and the 1707 and 1710 Sieges of Port Royal, Nova Scotia Port Royal . He was asked by Admiral Hovenden Walker to pilot his Quebec Expedition 1711 expedition to Quebec up the Saint Lawrence River , but refused, disclaiming detailed knowledge of that river. Walker s expedition ended disastrously, suffering more than 800 deaths when parts of the fleet foundered on rocks near the mouth of the Saint Lawrence. After Queen Anne s War Southack continued in a variety of public service positions, including a seat on the council of Nova Scotia . He was active in the British fishery at Canso, Nova Scotia .
