It is a clear colorless liquid with a sharp, irritating odor. Its chief use is as the main component of medical cyanoacrylate glues. It can be encountered under various trade name s including GluStitch, derma flex QS , SurgiSeal, FloraSeal, Dermabond, Nexaband, and others. In medical and veterinary applications, the related compounds Butyl cyanoacrylate n butyl cyanoacrylate and isobutyl cyanoacrylate are commonly used. They are bacteriostatic and their use is usually painless. Butyl esters provide a stronger bond, but the glue is rigid. The octyl ester, while providing weaker bond, is more flexible. 1. Mircata

unreferenced date August 2009 Orphan date May 2008 Mircata is a composite material, usually made of layers of either paper or cloth linen and canvas are mostly used , glued together. Glues used are either resin , epoxy or cyanoacrylate . Traditional mircata consists of several brown and few black layers, resembling wood. Modern mircata uses all colors and different methods of layering or twisting. Production Materials are soaked in glue, placed layer upon layer and then compressed until the glue hardens. Other materials can also be used, the main problem being the proper soaking of the material. For example, to soak denser cloth, it becomes necessary to use a vacuum chamber . Uses It can have a pattern reminiscent of wood and is used for wooden grips on knives or guns, since mircata normally is water repellent and ages a lot slower and with less color deterioration than normal wood. For another material that is used as replacement for normal wood for grips and has a quite similar production process, see stabilized wood . KG of Bretten Bretten G lshausen , Germany is a manufacturer of hobby grade radio control electronics, electric radio controlled airplane s and electric radio controlled helicopter helicopters . Their aircraft models are molded of a proprietary Polypropylene expanded polypropylene foam known as Elapor . The flexible nature of the material makes the company s models resistant to crash damage as well as easy assembly and repair with ordinary hobby grade cyanoacrylate adhesives. The two part epoxy commonly used in model assembly will not bind Elapor, nor will so called foam safe cyanoacrylate adhesives used in the assembly and repair of Polystyrene Expanded polystyrene EPS foam models. Products Aircraft Models range from small powered gliders such as the Cularis to pusher prop jets such as the FunJET pictured right to the company s largest model, the Mentor . The Mentor, a trainer aircraft which resembles a Cessna 180 , is an electric powered model similar in size and power to a .40 cubic inch 6.5cc glow engine powered model. It is large and powerful enough to be used as a glider tug and parts are packed with the kit to allow the Mentor to be used as such. In 2010, the company introduced its first helicopter model, the FUNCOPTER . The model features an Elapor fuselage and a direct drive rotor system, eliminating the need for the drive gears and one way bearings found in many other models. Also introduced in 2010 was the FunJET Ultra . The original FunJET is a popular subject for modification, with heavily modified examples capable of greater than 130  MPH 210  km h . Loctite products are used in a variety of industrial and hobbyist applications. History In 1953, American professor Vernon Krieble developed anaerobic thread locking fluid threadlocking adhesives in his basement laboratory at Trinity College, Hartford Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut . Krieble s company, American Sealants, founded the Loctite brand, which was promoted as ushering in a new era of mechanical reliability by eliminating the vibrational loosening of mechanical fasteners, a frequent cause of machine failure. In 1956, the name Loctite is chosen by Krieble s daughter in law. The Loctite sealant made its official public debut at a press conference at the University Club of New York on July 26 of that year. In 1963, American Sealants changed its name to the Loctite Corporation. The next year, Loctite introduced cyanoacrylate cyanoacrylate adhesives a repackaged Eastman product, invented at Eastman Kodak in 1942 , also known as Super Glue this is the first of many new products, including silicone silicones , epoxies, acrylics and the development of new Loctite anaerobics. The 1980s brought about the addition of a line micro anaerobic adhesives. In 1997, Loctite was acquired as a flagship brand by Henkel , a Germany based Fortune 500 company. 1. Set-in neck

Image Rickenbacker 008.jpg thumb Set in neck is a method of guitar or similar stringed instrument construction that involves joining guitar neck and body with a tightly fitted mortise and tenon mortise and tenon or dovetail joint, secured using some sort of adhesive . It is a common belief that this yields a stronger body to neck connection than a bolt on neck , although most luthiers agree that a well executed bolt on neck joint is equally as strong, and will have similar levels of sustain and neck to body contact. However, neither of these joints is as strong as a neck through body construction, which requires more material and is usually seen only on high end solid body guitars. This set in neck is most popular on Steel string guitar acoustic guitars . Almost all major acoustic guitar manufacturers use set in necks, with notable exceptions being Taylor Guitars and Collings Guitars . In the electric guitar market, Gibson Guitar Corporation Gibson traditionally produces almost all of its electric offerings as set in neck models, as opposed to rival Fender Musical Instruments Corporation Fender , which traditionally builds its electric instruments most notably, the Stratocaster , Telecaster and various bass guitar Electric Basses with bolt on necks. Glues used Wooden musical instrument construction relies on four widely used types of glues Hide glue Polyvinyl acetate PVA both white glue and yellow glue Epoxy and Cyanoacrylate are sometimes also used for neck joints, but generally such use is rare. Structure of these glues makes it difficult to disassemble joint later if repair or servicing is required. Advantages Typically cited advantages of set in neck include Warmer tone Usually better access to top frets in comparison to bolt on necks utilizing a metal plate as seen on Fender guitars Disadvantages Harder and more expensive to mass manufacture than bolt on necks, much harder to repair service than a bolt on neck Although commonly believed to have more sustain, th ...   more details
