Cu red was a King of Kingdom of KentKent 798 807 . After the revolt of Kent under Eadberht III Pr n was defeated in 798 by Coenwulf of Mercia C nwulf , he established Cu red as a client king . During Cu red s reign, the Archbishopric of Lichfield was formally abolished at the Council of Clovesho on October 12, 803, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Archbishopric of Canterbury thus regained the status of which Offa of Mercia had sought to deprive it. Cu red s reign also saw the first raids of Kent by the Vikings . After his death in 807, C nwulf seems to have acted as King of Kent. Cu red died in 807, according to the Anglo Saxon Chronicle. He issued coins and charters. His surviving charters are both dated 805 http www.anglo saxons.net hwaet ?do seek&query S 39 http www.anglo saxons.net hwaet ?do seek&query S 40 , one precisely to 26 July 805, in the eighth year of his reign, so his accession fell between 27 July 797 and 26 July 798. In two charters http www.anglo saxons.net hwaet ?do seek&query S 157 http www.anglo saxons.net hwaet ?do seek&query S 160 issued by C nwulf, King of Mercia, he is described as brother of that king. start s bef before Eadberht III Pr n s ttl title Kings of Kent King of Kent years 798 807 s aft after Coenwulf of Mercia C nwulf end See also List of monarchs of Kent Kentish Monarchs Chronology of Kentish Kings Category 807 deaths Category Kentish monarchs Category 8th century rulers in Europe Category 9th century rulers in Europe Category 8th century English people Category 9th century English people Category 8th century births br Cuthred, roue Kent de CuthredKent fr Cuthred de Kent it Cuthred del Kent ru sh Cuthred od Kenta ... more details
