In 1501 he disappeared while on an expedition and was believed lost at sea. Life Miguel CorteReal was a son of Jo o Vaz CorteReal and a brother of explorer Gaspar CorteReal . Gaspar explored Greenland in 1499. He stayed there for several months with his team before iceberg s forced them to return to Portugal. In 1500, Gaspar set out again with Miguel. The CorteReal brothers kidnapped and enslaved 57 First Nation s people and charted about 600 km of coastline of what is now Labrador . Gaspar sent Miguel with two ships back to Portugal. Following this, Gaspar was never heard from again. In May 1502, Miguel set out on an expedition to search for his brother, but he, too, disappeared, although two of the three ships returned to Portugal after they were separated. He was the pupil of his father, the Venetian painter and later alchemist Valerio Corte. He trained under Luca Cambiaso . According to Filippo Baldinucci Baldinucci , he was often in demand as a portrait painter. As a young man, he traveled to London and Paris. It is said that Queen Elizabeth I of England Elizabeth of England requested a portrait from him, ref R. Soprani, p.102. ref although he is not mentioned in Lord Orfurd s Anecdotes . In Genoa, he painted Saints Simon and Francis for Santa Maria del Carmine. He painted San Pietro di Banchi adoring the Virgin 1600 for the church of the same name. For the church of San Pietro he painted the titular Saint at the feet of the Virgin for San Francesco, the altar piece of the chapel of Prince Massa, representing Mary Magdalene and for the church of Santa Maria del Carmine two pictures of St. Simeon and St. Francis . Unreferenced date November 2007 Not Real was a radio program on WKPX , a high school radio station in Broward County, Florida . Not Real was on the air from 1999 to 2006. The show was created and originally hosted by Andrew Felson. The program featured comedy , alternative rock and punk rock music. The show was later co hosted by Wayne Sladek, who joined the show in 2000 and did all of the programming for the Punk Rock section of the show. In 2001 Derrick Heidinger joined the cast and his many different voices and characters became popular with listeners Haggis a Scottish curmudgeon, and Farmer Brown a backwoods farmer were the two most popular characters. In 2002, with the rise in the show s ratings, Heidinger became the show s host and executive producer. The show dropped its punk rock aspect and expanded on comedy segments, plus had a new cast of students. Not Real utilized the services of the largest cast for a radio program in WKPX history. Despite the highest Arbitron ratings in the station s history, Not Real was the subject of an investigation by Broward County Public Schools , the owner of WKPX, in Spring 2003, after complaints of Unacceptable Content and a ...frat party atmosphere by some listeners. As a result, subsequent Not Real episodes were screened in advance for content and no further action was taken by the School Board. The cast that brought about the investigation moved on after 2003.
