The bat, manufactured by the company of Lillee s good friend Graeme Monaghan , was intended only as a cheap replacement for traditional cricket bats for schools and developing countries. Nevertheless, Lillee decided to use it in the Test match as a marketing stunt, and at that point, there were no rules against using such a bat. This was not the first time Lillee had used an aluminium bat, as he had employed one 12 days previously in a Test against the West Indies, without incident. The trouble began on the fourth ball of the day, when Lillee straight drove a ball from Ian Botham . The ball went for three Run cricket runs , and nothing appeared untoward. However, Australian captain Greg Chappell thought that the ball should have gone for a Four cricket four , and instructed Glossary of cricket terms T twelfth man Rodney Hogg to deliver a conventional wooden bat to Lillee. As this was happening, English captain Mike Brearley complained to umpires Max O Connell and Don Weser that the metallic bat was damaging the soft, leather cricket ball. Refimprove date June 2008 Similar to a World War II reenactment , Korean War reenactment can be divided into two categories, Living History , or a public oriented display generally part of a larger venue or as a Tactical event , a closed event where participants re create a battle or event of the war. Living history In this type of event, participants set up a display attempting to show the public a small part of what Soldiers, Marines, Sailors or Airmen experienced during the war. Such displays normally focus on the Material culture of the military during the war, with tents, vehicles, weapons, and other everyday items on display in as close to their original context as possible. Participants in uniform are generally available to answer questions or perform period activities for public observation. Tactical reenactment In this form of Korean war reenactment, participants attempt to walk in the shoes of a Korean War soldier, and simulate the experience as completely as possible with all its discomforts, but without physical danger. While other reenactors may be portraying Chinese or North Korean soldiers, Korean war events lack the competitive win or lose wargaming aspect of more mainstream World War two reenactments, and tend to be much more scripted. Participants are generally required to create a persona and remain in character throughout the event.
