The Chutine River , originally named the Clearwater River , is a major right tributary of the Stikine River in northwestern British Columbia , Canada . It is located west of the Stikine Icecap and just inside the boundary between Alaska and British Columbia . The former settlement of Chutine, British Columbia Chutine or Chutine Landing is located at the confluence of the Chutine and Stikine. The Pemberton Icefield , also known unofficially as the Pemberton Icecap , is the southernmost of the series of very large icefields studding the Pacific Ranges of the southern Coast Mountains in British Columbia , Canada . Approximately convert 300 km2 sqmi abbr on in area, the icefield s shape is roughly triangular, with an apex on its northern side, where a short gap separates the ice mass from that of the smaller Overseer Icefield . On the west side of the icefield is the valley of the Squamish River , while on its east is the Callaghan Valley , which is the setting for the Nordic facilities for the 2010 Winter Olympics . The icefield is studded by several volcanic formations, including the active volcano Mount Cayley , which lies at the southernmost end of the icefield.
