Museum Palace History Museum Palace History Building, where Museum is situated, was built in 1895 by Paul Stern on the left bank of Kura Mtkvari River. During the 19th Century this place was called Garden Street because there was nice garden built by Germans, gadren belnger to France Tilell, Austrian noble. His daughter Emilia ordered to P. Stern to build a palace in 1985. But then building was bought by Constantin Peter Oldenburg 1850 1906 and he changed palace for his fiance Agraphina Djapharidze Dadiani. Constantin Oldenburg met this woman in Kutaisi , she was a wife of Tariel Dadiani, Georgian noble. Despite of traditions in 19th Century Georgia he fell in love with her and finally they ran from Kutaisi to Tbilisi where she was living in above mentioned palace. Later in this palace was living Andria Dadiani , world known chess player, and Achille Murat , Andria s brother in law. br Palace style is mix of Brick Gothic and islamic architecture. Castle styled building has terraces, which is unusual for this style, furthermore it has triumphal stone hand rail, centered bastion with steep roofing, and three storey tower with secret room. The combination of different ornaments and columns on frontier facade gives unusual Gothic look to palace.
