Chemical looping combustion CLC typically employs a dual fluidized bed system circulating fluidized bed process where a metal oxide is employed as a bed material providing the oxygen for combustion in the Fluidized bed combustion fuel reactor . The reduced metal is then transferred to the second bed Fluidized bed reactor air reactor and re oxidized before being reintroduced back to the fuel reactor completing the loop. 1. Looping Starship

Image PhoenixBGA.jpg thumb right 300px Phoenix at Busch Gardens Africa, a custom Looping Starship ride Mergefrom Power Dive date June 2008 The Looping Starship also can be called Space Shuttle is a flat ride by Intamin AG of Switzerland . The concept of the ride is basically a Pirate ship ride swinging ship that can spin a complete 360 degree revolution. The ride can be very scary at times, especially if the park enables the feature to temporarily suspend the ride upside down. Unlike similar rides like the Sky Flyer, Kamikaze, Skymaster, and Ranger, the Looping Starship inverts its passengers rather slowly and deliberately. The Looping Starship ride has been modified so instead of resembling a Space Shuttle it instead resembles a fighter jet , Egyptian cargo ship, and also one has been modified to look like a Looney Tunes ACME Rocket. Most parks require riders to be at least 48 inches tall or more. Looping Starships were manufactured as both traveling models and permanent models. Intamin AG no longer produces the ride, however. 1. Combustion analysis

Combustion analysis is a method used in both organic chemistry and analytical chemistry to determine the chemical element element al composition more precisely empirical formula of a pure organic compound by combusting the sample under conditions where the resulting combustion products can be quantitatively analyzed. Once the number of Mole unit mole s of each combustion product has been determined the empirical formula or a partial empirical formula of the original compound can be calculated. History The method was invented by Joseph Louis Gay Lussac . Justus von Liebig studied the method while working with Gay Lussac between 1822 and 1824 and improved the method in the following years to a level that it could used as standard procedure for organic analysis. ref cite journal author Frederic L. 1. Combustion Resources

Combustion Resources, Inc. is a consulting company based in Provo, Utah . It provides consulting services in the fields of fuel and combustion , such as testing of flow and mixing systems, reactor design, gas and particle sampling, gasification modeling, and shale oil extraction design and testing. The company was incorporated in 1995 as a spin off from the Center for Advanced Combustion Engineering Research, joint collaboration between Brigham Young University and the University of Utah . Shale oil extraction Combustion Resources is working under a grant from the US Department of Energy to research and optimize current designs of shale oil extraction. It seeks to eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from the shale oil production process. Pyrolysis occurs in a rotating kiln heated by hot gas flowing through an outer annulus. The hot gas is created by burning hydrogen generated in a separate unit by coal gasification followed by carbon dioxide separation. The geometry of the annulus enables the transfer of heat to the moving shale through a wall. ref name combustion Cite conference title A method of reducing CO sub 2 sub emissions from oil shale retorting last Coates first Ralph L. co authors Kent E. 1. Fluidized bed combustion

Fluidized bed Fluidized bed reactor Chemical looping combustion Grate firing Pulverised fuel firing Chemical looping combustion References http www.netl.doe.gov technologies coalpower Combustion FBC ...Fluidized bed combustion FBC is a combustion technology used in power plants. Fluidized bed reactor Fluidized beds suspend solid fuels on upward blowing jets of air during the combustion process. The result ... more effective chemical reactions and heat transfer. FBC plants are more flexible than conventional plants in that they can be fired on coal and biomass , among other fuels. Image Combustion systems for solid fuels.gif right thumb 350px Combustion systems for solid fuels FBC reduces the amount ... out sulfate during combustion, which also allows more efficient heat transfer from the boiler to the apparatus ... fuels other than coal, and the lower temperatures of combustion 800 C 1500 F have other added benefits as well. Benefits There are two reasons for the rapid increase of fluidized bed combustion FBC ... bed combustion. The second reason, which has become increasingly important, is the possibility of achieving, during combustion, a low emission of nitric oxides and the possibility of removing sulfur in a simple manner by using limestone as bed material. Fluidized bed combustion evolved from efforts to find a combustion process able to control pollutant emissions without external emission ... F 1400 C, the nitrogen and oxygen atom s in the combustion air combine to form nitrogen oxide pollutants it also avoids the ash melting problems related to high combustion temperature. The mixing action of the fluidized bed brings the flue gases into contact with a sulfur absorbing chemical, such as limestone ... bed CFB . FBC Atmospheric fluidized beds use limestone or dolomite to capture sulfur released by the combustion of coal. Jets of air suspend the mixture of sorbent and burning coal during combustion ... of air to suspend the mixture of sorbent and burning coal during combustion.
