He was son of William Moon 1818 1894 , inventor of Moon type , an embossed alphabet for the blind. Robert Moon s career choice in ophthalmology was influenced by his experiences as a youth helping his father in translating and transcribing reading matter for the visually handicapped. He initially practiced medicine at the South London Ophthalmic Hospital from 1866 to 1878, which was a facility founded in 1857 by John Zachariah Laurence . History He began his career in the 1950 s as a performer on the country music television show, Town Hall Party . Later, his career took him to Nashville, Tennessee Nashville where he worked in recording studios as a sideman . In 1973, he recorded his first solo album, The Legend of Sir RobertCharles Griggs . The album, while not a big seller and now out of print, has achieved an underground cult status. Produced by Gary Paxton , it is an innovative showcase of experimental alt country music, with all songs written by Griggs himself. Moog synthesizer s and sound effects on some tracks set this album apart from the rest, as being ahead of its time. In 1968, Joe Williams jazz singer Joe Williams recorded Griggs song Young Man on the Way Up on the album Something Old, New, and Blue for Solid State Records jazz label Solid State Records , and in 1973, Dick Curless recorded Country Soul on the album The Last Blues Song . Griggs suffered from alcoholism and became disillusioned with the recording industry, dropping out of the scene altogether. He is known particularly for English translations of apocryphal and pseudepigraphal works, and editions including Jubilees 1895 , the Book of Enoch 1906 , and the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs 1908 which have been widely used. He was educated at the Belfast Academy , Queen s College, Belfast and Trinity College, Dublin . He gained a Doctor of Divinity D.D. and became Professor of Biblical Greek at Trinity College. He represented Dufferin electoral district Dufferin in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1907 to 1926 as a Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario Conservative member. He was born in Orangeville, Ontario Orangeville , Canada West , the son of Robert McKeown, and educated at the University of Toronto . He articled in law with William L. Walsh , graduated from Osgoode Hall in 1894 and set up practice in Orangeville. In 1895, he married Crystine Innes McIntosh. He served as mayor of Orangeville in 1906 and 1907. In 1907, McKeown was named King s Counsel . He was elected to the provincial assembly in an 1907 by election held after the death of Frederick William Lewis . He served as Chairman of the Municipal and Railway Board from 1927 to 1935.
