CharlesP. Gillen b. County Roscommon , Ireland on August 6, 1876, d. June 30, 1956 in New Jersey was the Democratic Party United States Democratic mayor of Newark, New Jersey from 1917 to 1921. He was the son of Thomas and Mary A. Conry Gillen, Irish Catholic immigrants from County Roscommon. He married Margaret Carey in 1923. He had a real estate business before entering politics. He was the mayor of Newark, New Jersey from 1917 to 1921. He was a delegate to the 1932 Democratic National Convention . Kindregan received a Bachelor of Arts BA and Master of Arts postgraduate MA from LaSalle University , a Juris Doctor from Chicago Kent College of Law of the Illinois Institute of Technology and an LL.M from Northwestern University Law School . Kindregan taught at Virginia Military Institute from 1961 to 1962 and then became an Assistant Professor at Loyola Law School from 1963 to 1967. In 1967 he was appointed an Assistant Professor at Suffolk University Law School , serving in this position from 1967 to 1969. He became an Associate Professor in 1968 and a full Professor in 1972. Kindregan continues to teach at Suffolk and has served as Director of Advanced Legal Studies from 1980 to 1988 and Associate Dean from 1990 to 1994. He was appointed Distinguished Professor for Research and Scholarship in 2005. Kindregan has authored or co authored texts on family law and torts, including the American Bar Association book on assisted reproduction. He was elected to the Louisville Board of Aldermen in 1888 and served until 1894. He served as secretary and treasurer of the Kentucky & Indiana Bridge Company from 1889 through 1894. He was appointed postmaster by Grover Cleveland in 1894. He ran for mayor in 1897 against George Davidson Todd in the first Louisville mayoral election where a Democrat ran directly against a Republican. With the support of political boss John Whallen and accusations of voter fraud, Weaver was elected by a margin of 2,700 votes. As Mayor, he secured financing to buy Dupont Square and develop it into Central Park, Louisville Louisville s Central Park , although the plan was not completed until 1904. He died in 1932 and was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery . He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine and from Colby College in Waterville. Later, he attended Harvard Law School, earning his Juris Doctor , and becoming secretary to his father, Representative John E. Nelson Maine John E. Nelson . The younger Nelson engaged in the general practice of law in Augusta, Maine from 1932 to 1933, then worked as city solicitor of Augusta from 1934 to 1942. He was the chief of the State Arson Division in 1941 and 1942, and he entered the military service in 1942 as a second lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II . He served in the armed forces until discharge in 1946 as a lieutenant colonel with two years of service in the European Theater of Operations. He remained a member of the National Guard and Reserves after leaving the military. Nelson member of the State board of bar examiners from 1946 to 1948. He was also mayor of Augusta in 1947 and 1948. Nelson was elected as a Republican to the Eighty first and to the three succeeding Congresses, serving from January 3, 1949 to January 3, 1957 . He retired in 1957 and became a teacher at the University of Florida for two years. He was also chief trial attorney of the State highway commission in 1959, and moderator of the town of West Bath 1960. Nelson died in Augusta, Maine in 1962.
