  1. Responsible entity

Orphan date February 2009 A responsible entity is a peculiarly Australia n invention designed to replace the manager trustee in managed investment scheme s. It was created by the http www.austlii.edu.au au legis cth consol act mia1998208 index.html Managed Investments Act 1998 , which made significant amendments to the prescribed interest provisions contained in the Australian Corporations Act . The new arrangements replaced the relatively well known formula used in most common law jurisdictions of a two tiered trustee management company regime with a single responsible entity. The responsible entity holds scheme property on trust for scheme members. The responsible entity has power to appoint an agent to do anything that it is authorised to do in connection with a scheme. This may include the appointment of a custodian to hold scheme property on behalf of the responsible entity. Since November 1999 the Australian takeover scheme regulations were extended to listed schemes and the takeovers provisions and compulsory acquisitions provisions apply. A Responsible Entity has the dual role of trustee and manager of an investment scheme, and must be appointed if an investment scheme needs to be registered. The Responsible Entity must be an Australian public company, with certain levels of net tangible assets, depending on the value of the scheme s assets. The Responsible Entity must hold an Australian Financial Services Licence . When acting on behalf of an investment scheme, the Responsible entity must Act honestly Exercise a reasonable degree of care and diligence Act in the best interest of members of the investment scheme Treat all investment scheme members equally A Responsible Entity can either be owned by the same group as a fund manager, an internal responsible entity, or be an external responsible entity to the fund manager. 1. Entity realism

Entity realism is a philosophical position within the debate about scientific realism . Whereas traditional scientific realism argues that our best scientific theories are true, or approximately true, or closer to the truth than their predecessors, entity realism does not commit itself to judgments concerning the truth of scientific theories. Instead, entity realism claims that the theoretical entity entities that feature in scientific theory theories , e.g. electron s , should be regarded as real if and only if they refer to phenomena that can be routinely used to create effects in domains that can be investigated independently. Manipulative success thus becomes the criterion by which to judge the reality of typically unobservable scientific entities. As Ian Hacking , the main proponent of this formulation of entity realism, puts it referring to an experiment he observed in a Stanford laboratory, where electrons and positrons were sprayed, one after the other, onto a superconductor superconducting metal sphere , if you can spray them, then they are real. ref Hacking, I Representing and Intervening , page 24. Cambridge University Press, 1983. ref Entity realism has been an influential position partly because it coincided with a general trend in philosophy of science, and science studies more generally, to downplay the role of theories and put more emphasis on experiment ation and scientific practice. Thus, entity realism sometimes is also called instrumental realism or experimental realism ref Resnik, D Hacking s Experimental Realism , Canadian Journal of Philosophy Vol. 24 1994 395 412. ref . While many philosophers acknowledge the intuitive pull of entity realism, it has also been strongly some would say conclusively criticised, both as being too restrictive in that it ignores entities that are observable yet do not lend themselves to manipulation ref Shapere, D Astronomy and Antirealism , Philosophy of Science Vol. 60 1993 134 150. ref and as being too permissive ...   more details

  1. Entity integrity

In the relational data model , entity integrity is one of the database integrity three inherent integrity rules . Entity integrity is an integrity rule which states that every table must have a primary key and that the column or columns chosen to be the primary key should be unique and not null. ref Beynon Davies P. 2004 . Database Systems 3rd Edition. Palgrave, Basingstoke, UK. ISBN 1 4039 1601 2 ref A direct consequence of this integrity rule is that duplicate rows are forbidden in a table. If each value of a primary key must be unique no duplicate rows can logically appear in a table. The NOT NULL characteristic of a primary key ensures that a value can be used to identify all rows in a table. Within relational databases using SQL , entity integrity is enforced by adding a primary key clause to a schema definition. The system enforces Entity Integrity by not allowing operations INSERT, UPDATE to produce an invalid primary key. Any operation that is likely to create a duplicate primary key or one containing nulls is rejected. The Entity Integrity ensures that the data that you store remains in the proper format as well as comprehendible. 1. Accounting Entity

confusing date September 2009 expert subject Economics date September 2009 orphan date September 2009 unreferenced date September 2009 Accounting Entities can be created for a company that has a great amount to do with local economics . The entity , itself, must be represented by a solid standing, renewable, or growth producing point of value within the company. Several point of value systems are quite usually supported by a large corporation. Accounting entities are separate from owners Kroeger Foods & Marketplaces, Inc. A company as such has not only a reputation but has combined levels of investment packages for the aspiring investors whom want to partake in their stock capital exchange relationship oriented programs. The store s stock points and price quotas, as well as increased revenues, can be the deciding factor of whether they are eligible for instating a new Accounting Entity. Usually any corporation that makes millions of gross income dollars a year would be set up with at around two or more Accounting Entities. First, however, a company must create and abide to a Business Entity which can turn into an Accounting Entity. The entities are basically anything owned in the business that is a self supported and unique, money producing, or money diminishing, specialized range of products or services. The entity could be operated through a device or a department. After a short or long period of time, a Business Entity , like a stock, can mature. At this phase is where the accountant can refer to the handbook, and if it is allowed by rules and regulations, they can appraise the internal Business Entity to become an external Accounting Entity. 1. Weak entity

Unreferenced date October 2008 In a relational database , a Weak Entity is an entity that cannot be uniquely identified by its attributes alone therefore, it must use a foreign key in conjunction with its attributes to create a primary key . The foreign key is typically a primary key of an entity it is related to. In entity relationship diagrams a weak entity set is indicated by a bold type bold rectangle the entity connected by a bold type arrow symbol arrow to a bold rhombus diamond the relationship . This type of relationship is called an identifying relationship and in IDEF1X notation it is represented by an oval entity rather than a square entity for base tables. An identifying relationship is one where the primary key is populated to the child weak entity as a primary key in that entity. In general though not necessarily a weak entity does not have any items in its primary key other than its inherited primary key and a sequence number. There are two types of weak entities Associative Entities associative entities and subtype entities . The latter represents a crucial type of normalization, where the super type entity inherits its attributes to subtype entities based on the value of the discriminator . In IDEF1X , a government standard for capturing requirements, possible sub type relationships are Complete subtype relationship , when all categories are known. Four billion years ago, an alien spacecraft exploded in our solar system . The core of this craft wound up on Earth s Moon, while the main body of the vessel crashed on Earth. Over time, the ship s self repair mechanisms began to activate, and organic nanotechnology began to scour the world for missing pieces of the ship and materials to rebuild what could not be repaired. A few of these molecular machines malfunctioned, and became entangled with other self replicating molecules that made up the living organisms of this planet. After four billion years, the starship core on the Moon also began to repair itself, and to seek out the rest of the vessel. It sent out pulses of energy designed to signal the missing vessel but since every living creature on the planet now contained traces of the same technology, there was an unexpected side effect. In life forms with a sufficiently complex nervous system i.e., humans there developed certain abilities to manipulate matter and energy, and in some cases even space and time. These humans would come to be called Ultras , and many of them would become quite famous or infamous because of their abilities. The starship core, which would now come to be called the Entity , reached out to Amber Hunt , attempting to use her to complete its repairs and send itself home. But since the tremendous energy released was dangerous to the population of Earth, several Ultras banded together to shut down the Entity. This event was called Break Thru , and was the first massive cross over in the Ultraverse. In another attempt to reconstruct itself, the Entity began to probe ... place.
