Surname It has been suggested that the surname Rosser was derived from the Welsh ap Rhosyr meaning man of the moors . Citation needed date July 2011 However, the name almost certainly has the same Norman English Welsh origins as Prosser see the section on the origins of this name . Although there were records of ap Rossers son of Rosser from 1400 onwards, the name Rosser without the prefix ap was not commonly used until the 19th Century. 1. Rosser's trick

For the theorem about the sparseness of prime numbers, see Rosser s theorem . For a general introduction to the incompleteness theorems, see G del s incompleteness theorems . In mathematical logic , Rosser s trick is a method for proving G del s incompleteness theorems without the assumption that the theory being considered is Omega consistency &omega consistent Smorynski 1977, p.  840 Mendelson 1977, p. 160 . This method was introduced by J. Barkley Rosser in 1936, as an improvement of G del s original proof of the incompleteness theorems that was published in 1931. While G del s original proof uses a sentence that says informally This sentence is not provable , Rosser s trick uses a formula that says If this sentence is provable, there is a shorter proof of its negation . Background Rosser s trick begins with the assumptions of G del s incompleteness theorem. A theory T is selected which is effective, consistent, and includes a sufficient fragment of elementary arithmetic. G del s proof shows that for any such theory there is a formula Proof x , y which has the intended meaning that x is a natural number code a G del number for a proof, y is a G del number for a formula, and x is a proof, from the axioms of T , of the formula encoded by y . 1. Rosser Reeves

Rosser Reeves 10 September 1910 24 January 1984 was a hugely successful United states American advertising executive and pioneer of television advertising . He believed the purpose of advertising is to sell. He insisted that an advertisement or commercial should show off the value of a product, not the cleverness of a copywriter. His most typical ad is probably that for Anacin , a headache medicine. The ad was considered grating and annoying by almost all viewers but it was remarkably successful, tripling the product s sales. In 7 years the 59 second commercial made more money than the movie Gone With The Wind had in a quarter century. Reeves generated millions for his clients, the Ted Bates executive Ted Bates agency where he rose to chairman existing today as Bates 141 . The AMC program, Mad Men , uses Reeves as one model for the professional accomplishments of the series protagonist, Don Draper Jon Hamm . His ads were focused around what he called the unique selling proposition , the one reason the product needed to be bought or was better than its competitors. These often took the form of slogan s Reeves oversaw the introduction of dozens, some that still exist to this day, such as M&M s melt in your mouth, not in your hand.
