They played in Sal Maglie Stadium , an old football stadium awkwardly converted to baseball for each season. At the time, the stadium and the locker rooms were badly in need of renovation. There was a pool behind the structure, and when a hitter would foul one off the announcer would shout SPLASH into the microphone. The team mascot was an older man named Whitey , he was very entertaining and the crowd loved him. He was known throughout the NY P League as Whitey Sox The White Sox that year were managed by Luis Lagunas, and featured players coming in from college for their first year in the pros. Bobby Thigpen MSU , Jose Mota CSUF , Scott Kershaw UCLA , Michael Moore Cal, CSULA , Andre Toliver Arizona , John Von Ahnen Wagner College , and Randy Velarde were remembered players from the squad.
