    Orphan date February 2009 Image with unknown copyright status removed Image Briard glass.jpg thumb right Glass designed by Briard George Briard born 1917, as Jascha Brojdo in the Ukraine died July 30, 2005 was a noted, award winning designer in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. He is most well known for his signature dishware and glassware everything from cups and plates to gold plated serving dishes. Most famous for dishware and glassware, his signature collection was stocked at noted department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller . Born in Russia, he moved to Chicago from Poland in 1937. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago where he earned his MFA, studying there while living in Oak Park, Illinois Oak Park with relatives. He served in the U.S. Army throughout World War II as a Russian interpreter. As an Army interpreter fluent in several languages, he served on Gen. George S. Patton s staff. In 1947, he was discharged from the Army and started working in New York with Max Wille, whom he had met in art school. Brojdo began painting metal serving trays for sale, and evidently Wille came up with the name Georges Briard to mark commercial pieces Brodjo was also a painter and would use his real name on his art pieces, but Georges Briard became his signature as a designer of these commercial articles, which were wildly popular and numerous. His notable designs were produced first by M. Wille Company, and later in a partnership with Philip Stetson . In 2004, he was awarded the Frank S. Child Lifetime Achievement Award by The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators, in honor of his extraordinary contributions to the glass and ceramic decorating industry. Love Records was founded in October 1966 in music 1966 by journalist Atte Blom , jazz drummer Christian Schwindt and composer and all round music personality Henrik Otto Donner . The first release was an LP consisting of the songs of Kaj Chydenius , sung by Kaisa Korhonen , Kalle Holmberg and Vesa Matti Loiri . Biography Born at Brussels in 1752, pupil of Gabriel Briard , Jean Louis de Marne died at Batignolles near Paris on March 24, 1829. br He went to Paris at the age of 12 after the death of his father, who had been in Brussels as an officer in the service of the Austrian Empire Emperor of Austria . Essayed first, historical subjects, then landscape of the classic and severe order. He had more success with paintings into which animals were introduced and with genre pieces. He concentrated on landscape and genre painting , in which he was greatly influenced by such 17th century Dutch masters as Aelbert Cuyp , the Adriaen van Ostade van Ostade brothers , Paulus Potter , Adriaen van de Velde and Karel Dujardin , all artists enjoying a tremendous vogue and high prices in Paris at that time.
