The formation consists of marine ocean marine glauconite glauconiferous sand s and clay s that were deposited during the Miocene Epoch geology epoch . Although the formation is not very rich in fossils, sometimes bones of fishes , exoskeleton shell s and shark teeth are found. Stratigraphy and lithology The Breda Formation was deposited in the shallow sea that covered the Netherlands during the Miocene. It is mostly on top of the Oligocene clays of the Rupel Formation or late Oligocene sands and clays of the Veldhoven Formation . The Breda Formation can be a couple of meters to in the Roerdal Graben more than 700 meters thick. The top is formed by an erosion al nonconformity in the south and east of the Netherlands. In the west the contact with the Pliocene Oosterhout Formation is more gradual. In the Roerdal Graben the mostly Pliocene Kiezeloolite Formation is sometimes on top of the Breda Formation. It was able to fit on the available tanks the Fiat L6 40 , the Fiat M11 39 , and the Fiat M13 40 . It was also adapted as infantry machine gun. Development The Italians have also adapted it for use as an infantry machine gun. For this purpose the gun is mounted on a machine gun tripod by means of an adapter, and is fitted with a temporary rear sight on the right of the body and a temporary front sight on the right of the barrel at the muzzle. These temporary open sights take the place of the optical sight used when the gun is tank mounted. Design details The gun is air cooled, gas operated, and magazine fed, and has a quick change barrel.
