Currently, NSBRI has seven teams conducting research at more than 60 institutions around the United States . Currently, NSBRI the only U.S. organization participating in the Mars 500 Project s 520 day mission simulations with an experiment that is monitoring the six crew members rest activity cycles, performance and psychological responses to determine the extent to which sleep loss, fatigue, stress, mood changes and conflicts occur during the mission. NSBRI also has a robust education and outreach program.
