Character overview Impressed with Brass talent at basketball , Unit Manager Tim McManus recruits him to play in a pick up game against inmate Jackson Vahue . After his achilles tendon is cut by Carlos Martinez Oz Carlos Martinez , he becomes bitter and begins taking his frustrations out to both inmates and staff members. Brass played college basketball at the University of Iowa. Season 4 Brass does so well in the tournament that he gets a look from an NBA scout. This look upsets the Latino inmates who lost a bet due to a performance by Brass and they set up the slicing of his Achilles tendon. Season 5 Brass is then confined to a cane for the rest of his life and has an even harder time working in Oz as a result. Brass later purchases a lottery ticket for inmate Bob Rebadow that ends up winning the 2 million jackpot. Overjoyed, Brass leaves Oz on a vacation, stealing the money from Rebadow, which he is later remorseful for. Season 6 Brass comes back to Oz and resumes working as a guard.
