It departed from Arwad, Syria in August 2008, sailed through the Suez Canal, around the Horn of Africa and down the east coast. The voyage continued up the west coast of Africa, through the Straights of Gibraltar and across the Mediterranean, returning to Syria in November 2010. The circumnavigation may be followed by another voyage to bring the ship to the United Kingdom in 2011 2013. In all the voyage will traveled 20,000 miles and was over 1 year at sea. The Borobudur Ship Expedition In 2004 Danielle was invited by Philip Beale to participate in the international Borobudur Ship Expedition http www.borobudurshipexpedition.com . As Expedition Artist, she travelled 10,000 miles with the replica 8th century Indonesian wooden boat from Indonesia to Seychelles , Madagascar , South Africa , and Ghana , painting and drawing. The boat was of a design based on stone relief carvings found on the ancient Buddhist temple at Borobudur on the island of Java .
