Do not confuse with Karl B hm . Carl Bohm also known as Charles Bohm, Henry Cooper Pseudonym and Karl Bohm , 11 September 1844 4 April 1920 ref name de w de Carl Bohm ref was a Germany German pianist and composer . Bohm is regarded as one of the leading German songwriters of the 19th century, and wrote such works as Still as the Night , Twilight , May Bells , Enfant Cheri and The Fountain . The Oxford Companion to Music says that Bohm was a German composer of great fecundity and the highest salability... He occupied an important position in the musical commonwealth inasmuch as his publisher, Simrock , declared that the profits on his compositions provided the capital for the publication of those of Brahms . Bohm s specialty was music in a lighter vein, very different from the dark, brooding and introspective works of Brahms. Bohm, like Schubert , was more than just a songwriter, composing in most genres. His chamber music , mostly quartets and piano trios, were extremely popular not only amongst amateurs but also among touring professional groups who were always in need of a sure fire audience pleaser. Edition Silvertrust see references states that Bohm was certainly very well known during his life time. Yet today, his name brings nothing but blank stares. It was first observed in 1949 by David Bohm , E. H. S. Burhop , and Harrie Massey while studying magnetic arcs for use in isotope separation . ref D. Fortunately there are exceptions where the diffusion rate is lower, otherwise there would be no hope of achieving practical fusion energy . In Canadian constitutional law , the dialogue principle is an approach to the interpretation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms where judicial review of legislation is said to be part of a dialogue between the legislatures and the courts. It specifically involves governments drafting legislation in response to court rulings and courts acknowledging the effort if the new legislation is challenged. This approach was introduced by constitutional scholar Peter Hogg and has had acceptance in much of the academic world and in courts. Nevertheless, it remains a controversial principle as it attempts to justify what many critics see as judicial activism in the courts. Further reading Peter Hogg and Allison Bushell. Italic title Dialogues of Plato The Clitophon also Cleitophon is a dialogue generally ascribed to Plato , though there is some disagreement regarding its Authentication authenticity . It is the shortest of the Socratic dialogue dialogues , and is significant for focusing on Socrates role as an exhorter of other people to engage in philosophic inquiry. The dialogue features two participants, Clitophon and Socrates, and the central feature of the discussion is Clitophon s lengthy complaint about Socrates. The crux of this complaint is that, while no one excels Socrates in protreptic or exhortation to the virtues and the life of philosophy, no one is more useless to one already persuaded of their importance. Socrates does not respond, or the dialogue does not contain his response. Reception Some scholars doubt the authenticity of the Clitophon because as we have it today Socrates does not emerge victorious in the verbal battle. One school of thought in favor of its authenticity thinks that Plato wrote it, but then decided to have the argument in the Republic . This interpretation holds that the dialogue is the rare piece of esoterica or not meant for publication. The dialogue has also been interpreted as a finished piece of the Platonic corpus, intended to be read in the version which we currently possess. In fact the ancient tradition never questioned the dialogue s authenticity, and it is referred to as Plato s work by Olympiodorus the Younger Olympiodorus , Apuleius , Hippolytus and Alcinous philosopher Alcinous . Suspicion about the Clitophon seems to have arisen in the Renaissance, when Marsilio Ficino wrote hic liber non est Platonis at the head of his translation of the dialogue ... recent scholarship has regarded the dialogue as authentic, including articles by Mark Kremer, David ... mind regarding the dialogue s authenticity twenty years after his Doctoral dissertation spoke against ... .
