The building was originally a vaudeville theater built in 1905, put out of business in 1955 due partly to the emergence of television . During the 1960s it was a German film theater. The Bogart s venue opened in the mid 1970s as a 300 seat club, but it was expanded in 1993. Through the early eighties, Bogart s was the proving ground for many up coming Metal bands of the time. The highly intimate setting offered an up close experience, very often allowing the crowd to flow on to the stage with most of the current Metal legends such as Testament, Slayer, Death, Dark Angel, Overkill , WASP and many, many more. While Metal often ruled, Bogart s had performances of varied styles, nearly every night of the week. The venue is managed by Live Nation . It has two levels a pit, and a balcony, the latter which is only opened if enough tickets are sold. ref cite book last Singer first Allen J authorlink coauthors title Stepping Out in Cincinnati Queen City Entertainment 1900 1960 publisher Arcadia Publishing date 2005 location url doi id isbn 0738534323 page 35 ref References references http www.jambase.com search.asp?venueID 388&display venueinfo JamBase Venue Info http db.etree.org bv d.php?venue key 13178 db.etree.org Venue Listings External links http www.bogarts.com Bogart s official ...   more details
