    The Italian Catholic archdiocese of Trani Barletta Bisceglie , in Apulia , received its current name in 1986. The historic archdiocese of Trani was elevated from a diocese in the eleventh century. It was combined with the diocese of Bisceglie in 1818.   1. Alfonso of Aragon

    Alfonso of Aragon 1481 18 August 1500 was the Duke of Bisceglie and Prince of Salerno , as the son of King Alfonso II of Naples by his mistress Truzia Gazzela whom Alfonso II later married as his second wife . On 29 June 1498, he married Lucrezia Borgia , the daughter of Pope Alexander VI of the Borgia s and Vannozza dei Cattanei of the House of Candia . On 15 July 1500, he was attacked in the Piazza of St. Peter s Basilica on his way home. He survived and was cared for by Alexander VI s doctors, as well by his wife and his sister Sancha of Aragon . On 18 August 1500, while recovering from his wounds, he was strangled in his bed. His brother in law, Cesare Borgia , is widely considered to be the man behind his assassination.
