The episode followed Beech s new life in Australia as he endeavoured to set up a life of leisure and luxury funded by crime and various illegal scams. Beech s new life is brought to an abrupt end, however, due to the unfailing determination of former colleague Claire Stanton . At the end of the episode, Beech is seen boarding a boat as it explodes. This episode prompted the six part spin off, which began broadcasting from 24 August 2001. In the first episode, it is revealed he had survived the explosion and had used it to fake his death and return to Britain. Perceived dead, he returned to England to attempt to organise a six million pound diamond robbery only to find himself once again pitted against Claire Stanton . His attempt failed and he received life imprisonment for murder and all the various crimes he had committed whilst a police officer and on the run in Australia.
