Indigenous Peoples of Canada Chippewas of Sarnia Bandv. Canada Attorney General , 195 D.L.R. 4th 135, was a decision of the Court of Appeal for Ontario rendered on December 21, 2000. The plaintiff, an aboriginal First Nations nation , claimed aboriginal title to a four square mile parcel of land in and around the city of Sarnia, Ontario . The Court of Appeal dismissed the claim, upholding the lower court s judgment although with different reasoning. The Chippewas of Sarnia sought leave from the Supreme Court of Canada to appeal the decision, but leave was denied. The Chippewas of Sarnia Band, legally an Indian Band pursuant to Canada s Indian Act , is now known as Aamjiwnaang First Nation . The case is notable for two reasons. First, the Aboriginal peoples in Canada aboriginal group was claiming ownership of privately held land. Previous aboriginal title claims, such as in Delgamuukw v. ON was a solo project of Ken Andrews , which he started after the breakup of his previous band, Failure band Failure . The music of ON was not unlike that of Failure, in terms of Songwriter songwriting , but the overall sound was more based on Electronic music electronics , with less emphasis on guitar s and the typical Hard rock heavy rock sound. ON was signed to Epic Records in 1999, and the first single, Soluble Words , was released late that year. It contains four versions of the song, including a remix by Martin Gore of Depeche Mode , and an exclusive track called Your Sister Says John written by Andrews friend Jordon Zadorozny of Blinker the Star . After several months, ON s album Shifting Skin was released in June 2000. Ken then assembled a backing band, which consisted of drummer Tim Dow ex Shiner band Shiner Season to Risk , bassist Tommy Walter Abandoned Pools , guitarist Joey Sykes, and keyboardist Kevin Moore, and took ON on tour. Another single, Slingshot , was serviced to radio, but the album didn t sell well, and Epic eventually released Andrews from his contract. A second ON album, Make Believe , was released in 2002 via CD Baby and the iTunes Store . Also in 2002, he and Dow formed a new group called Year of the Rabbit . Currently, Andrews is working both as a solo artist and as a member of Digital Noise Academy, as well as being a sought after Record producer producer and session musician .
