It was founded as Delta banka in 1991 . In February 2005, Banca Intesa acquired 75 stake in the bank for 278 million. By August of same year its stake was increased to 90 . Following the majority takeover finalization, Delta banka officially changed its name to Banca Intesa Beograd during fall 2005. The bank has been trading on Belgrade Stock Exchange BELEX until November 17, 2006. As a result of the August 2006 merger of Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI banking groups, since January 1, 2007 Banca Intesa Beograd operated as member of the newly formed Intesa Sanpaolo group. Since Sanpaolo IMI owned Panonska banka in Serbia, a decision had to be made about the new group s future structure in Serbia. Initially, Banca Intesa Beograd and Panonska banka remained as separate entities. However, as of January 1, 2008, Panonska banka has been merged into Banka Intesa Beograd. Banca Popolare di Lecco BPL was a bank that operated in Lecco , in northern Lombardy in Italy between 1872 and 1993. It was founded in 1872 as the Societ Cooperativa di Credito Banca Popolare, with 20 branches. The idea was to create in Lecco a local credit institution that would be responsive to local conditions. Between the 1873 and 1881 the Society faced great difficulties due to a serious local economic depression. Of the 600 and more factories engaged in the silk trade, fewer than 100 survived. In 1912 two other local banks failed, but Banca Popolare survived and converted from a cooperative society to a corporation. The bank benefited from the expansion of war production during World War I . Between 1919 and the 1932 opened numerous branches in the region, and acquired Banca del Mandamento, which permitted it to expand its branch in Como . World War II again created a period of great difficulties, including the German Occupation forces requisitioning of its headquarters from 1944 to 1945. After the war normality returned and the bank reorganized. By 1947 it had 27 branches. By the time of its Centenary, it had 38, with two headquarters, Milan and Como . Between 1988 and 1994, Banca Popolare di Novara BPN acquired a substantial stake in Banca Popolare di Lecco and seats on the board of directors. Expand Italian Banca Nazionale del Lavoro date January 2010 Banca Nazionale del Lavoro SpA BNL is an Italian banking firm. Founded in 1913 as Istituto di Credito per la Cooperazione , it was nationalized in 1929. It was re privatized and listed on the Borsa Italiana Milan Stock Exchange in 1998, before being acquired by French banking group BNP Paribas in 2006. It is Italy s sixth largest bank. Citation needed date April 2010 Banca Nazionale del Lavoro began Argentinian operations in 1960, ultimately opening 91 branches, before selling its operation there to HSBC Bank Argentina in 2006. The bank was involved in a major political scandal dubbed Iraqgate by the media when it was revealed in 1989 that the Atlanta, Georgia branch of the bank was making unauthorized loans of more than 4.5 billion to Iraq. Many of the loans that the branch made were guaranteed by the United States Department of Agriculture s Commodity Credit Corporation program. The loans were originally intended to finance agricultural exports to Iraq, but were diverted by Iraq to buy weapons. The branch manager, Christopher Drogoul, indicated that the bank s headquarters office was aware of these loans, but senior bank official denied this.
