History It is based at Weston House near Holborn tube station and was established in 1996. The Chief Executive is Yvonne Baker. The STEMNET offices are housed within the Engineering Council . Function Its chief aim is to get children interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematics. Primary school children can start to get an interest in these subjects, leading secondary school pupils to choose science A levels, which will lead to a science career. It supports the After School Science and Engineering Clubs at schools. There are also nine regional Science Learning Centres. Funding It used to receive funding from the Department for Education and Skills United Kingdom Department for Education and Skills .
