Preceded by Ashur rim nisheshu , he is considered to be the last king of the Assyria Old Assyrian city states and kingdoms Old Assyrian Period . He was succeeded by Eriba Adad I , the first king of the Middle Assyrian period . Ashur nadin ahhe is an Assyrian personal name meaning the god Anshar Ashur has given a brother in Akkadian language . Two Assyrian kings ruling in the 15th or early 14th century BC were called Ashur nadin ahhe. Hardly anything is known about these kings, but one of them is mentioned in one of the Amarna letters . In the letter from king Ashur uballit of Assyria to the Pharaoh of Egypt, numbered EA 16, Ashur nadin ahhe is referred to as his ancestor who wrote to Egypt and received gold in return. This would imply an earlier diplomatic marriage and alliance between Assyria and Egypt during his reign. The name Ashur nadin ahhe mentioned in EA 16 has recently been contested as a faulty writing of Ashur nadin apli , another Assyrian king. Ashur nirari III was king of Assyria 1203 BC 1198 BC or 1193 BC 1187 BC . He was the grandson of Tukulti Ninurta I and may have succeeded his uncle Ashur nadin apli on the throne. Ashur nirari s father Ashur nasir pal participated in a conspiracy against Tukulti Ninurta I which led to his murder. The six year reign of Ashur nirari III is very poorly dated and there appears to be no limmu belonging to him. He may only have been an usurper in the chaotic years following the death of Tukulti Ninurta I . ref citebook title The Cambridge Ancient History author Iorwerth Eiddon Stephen Edwards, Nicholas Geoffrey Lempri re Hammond, Cyril John Gadd year 1975 publisher Cambridge University Press isbn 0521086914 page 450 ref References Refs br Start box Succession box title King of Assyria before Ashur nadin apli after Enlil kudurri usur years 1193&ndash 1187 BCE end box Persondata Metadata see Wikipedia Persondata .
