The Centre is visited by over 300,000 visitors annually, who come to view performing and visual arts programs, attend corporate meetings conventions, or participate in a variety of community events. The Living Arts Centre houses performance theatres, an exhibition gallery, seven professional art studios and corporate meeting facilities. The term living arts centre is often used as a synonym for gallery , especially for those venues which also hold multi media presentations or teaching courses. The Centre has seven art and craft studios. Presently there is a glass studio, a furniture or wood studio, a textiles studio, a ceramics studio, a drawing studio, a metal studio and a photography studio. When the Centre first opened there was also a digital arts studio. The 350 seater auditorium regularly plays host to music and drama events and is the focus for much of Aberdeen s amateur dramatic activities. The theatre is on two levels, with an upper and a lower gallery for audiences. There is a small orchestra pit and behind the stage there are dressing and rehearsal rooms for the shows and other projects such as local drama groups. In addition the theatre has a large participatory arts programme. The centre is home to Castlegate Theatre School formally established by Annie Inglis and ACT 2, an award winning youth group for teenagers which focuses on devised theatre. Saturday Drama classes, led by Sheena Blackhall , Marie Skene and Barry Donaldson run every Saturday for 3 to 11s.     Project Arts Centre is a multidisciplinary contemporary arts centre located in Dublin s Temple Bar, Dublin Temple Bar that showcases cutting edge visual art and performance. Founded in 1967 after a successful three week festival at the Gate Theatre in 1966, Project Arts Centre had several homes before it opened for business in a converted factory on East Essex Street in 1975. This building was demolished in 1998 and a new purpose built space containing two auditorums, a gallery and a bar opened on the same site in 2000. Project Arts Centre has often been controversial and has sometimes had internal difficulties but throughout its history it has played an important role in the Ireland Irish arts scene. One of the companies that has had a long association with the Project is Rough Magic Theatre .
