Biography He was born in Ludwigsburg , Kingdom of W rttemberg . At the age of six his parents divorced and he and his mother moved to France where she later married a French doctor who moved the family to Savoy . Van Gennep is best known for his work regarding rites of passage ceremonies and his significant works in modern French folklore. He is recognised as the wiktionary Founder founder of folklore studies in France . He went to Paris to study at the Sorbonne , but was disappointed that the school did not offer the subjects he wanted. So he enrolled at the Ecole des langues orientales to study Arabic and at the Ecole pratique des hautes etudes for philology, general linguistics, Egyptology, Ancient Arabic, primitive religions, and Islamic culture. This scholarly independence would manifest itself for the remainder of his life. He never held an academic position in France. From 1912 to 1915 he held the Chair of Ethnography at the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland but was expelled for expressing doubts about the neutrality of Switzerland during World War I.     Arnold or Arnoud van Isenburg died in April or June 1197 was Bishopric of Utrecht Bishop of Utrecht from 1196 to 1197. Arnold descended from the German House of Isenburg and had been Provost religion provost in Deventer since 1176. Debut He made his debut in 1941 at the Circustheater in The Hague as Wagner in the opera Faust opera Faust of Charles Gounod . After the Second World War ended, he started to sing at the Flemish Opera. There, he already sang the great bass roles of the repertoire like Boris Godunov, King Marke, Hagen and Gurnemanz. Bayreuther Festspiele His career got a real boost when he was invited, after an audition, to sing at the first Post War Bayreuth Festival in 1951. Wieland and Wolfgang Wagner thought Arnold van Mill was suited well for the roles of Titurel, Hunding and Hans Foltz. It was the beginning of a long period at the Gr ne H gel , although it was not as long as it could have been.
