Brackenbury , solicitor of Manchester , England . As the legal advisor of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at its formation James Brackenbury made a substantial fortune which was inherited by his only surviving child, Hannah. Hannah Brackenbury resided in Brighton Portslade , devoting her life and fortune to the promotion of charitable institutions, including substantial donations to Balliol College , Oxford University . The Brackenbury Scholarship at Balliol is funded to this day from her bequest. Her funeral was described thus The funeral procession, which consisted of five mourning coaches, each drawn by four horses and the private carriage of the deceased, left Adelaide Crescent,Hove at 11 o clock, arriving at Portslade shortly after 12. Among the mourners were the Very Rev. Dr Robert Scott, the Dean of Rochester and the Rev. Benjamin Jowett Professor Jowett , Master of Balliol College , Oxford. The church was filled by the villagers and those from adjacent parishes and the burial service was impressively read by the Rev. F.G.     Lieutenant Colonel Sir Edward Brackenbury 1785 8 June 1864 was a British Army officer. Brackenbury, a direct descendant from Robert Brackenbury Sir Robert Brackenbury , lieutenant of the Tower of London in the time of Richard III of England Richard III , was second son of Richard Brackenbury, of Aswardby , Lincolnshire , by his wife Janetta, daughter of George Gunn of Edinburgh . Having entered the army as an Ensign rank Ensign in the 61st Foot in 1803, and become a Lieutenant on 8 December in the same year. He served in Sicily , in Calabria , at Scylla Castle and at Gibraltar , 1807 8, and in the Peninsula from 1809 to the end of the war in 1814. At the battle of Salamanca he took a piece of artillery from the enemy, guarded by four soldiers, close to their retiring column, without any near or immediate support, and in many other important engagements conducted himself with distinguished valour. As a reward for his numerous services he received the war medal with nine clasps. On 22 July 1812 he was promoted to a Captain British Army and Royal Marines Captaincy , and after the conclusion of the war was attached to the Portuguese and Spanish army from 25 October 1814 to 25 December 1816, when he was placed on half pay. He was promoted Major in the Army in 1817 and purchased a Majority in the 28th Foot on 1 November 1827. On 31 January 1828 he was again placed on half pay. Plot Eddie Harrington Bud Abbott and Albert Mansfield Lou Costello are plumbers who receive a call about a leak in the private bathroom of Mr. Van Cleve Thurston Hall , a wealthy businessman. The leak is keeping him awake, but the costume ball that his wife Nella Walker is throwing downstairs is not. Eddie and Albert enlist the aid of a friend, Elsie Hammerdingle Marion Hutton , a taxi driver, to take them to the mansion. While they are upstairs attempting to fix the leak, but flooding the room instead, Peter Evans Kirby Grant , a guest dressed as a cab driver, mistakes Elsie for another costumed guest...despite her insistence that she really is just a cab driver. He winds up inviting her to another gala event, Mrs. Winthrop s Margaret Irving estate Briarwood, where a valuable painting The Plunger is to be revealed. Meanwhile, Eddie and Albert mistakenly receive their own invitation to the event, as Mrs. Van Cleave was intending to send them a letter of complaint for the devastation that they inflicted on her home, but instead mails them her invitation to Briarwood.
