Pera a lang el is a village in the Pella Prefecture of Central Macedonia Macedonia , Greece on the bank of Lake Vegoritida . The original Turkish name of the village was Kostana. The village is located south of the town of Arnissa within the Vegoritida Municipality which belongs to the Province of Edessa. The village was formerly inhabited by a Turkish speaking Muslim population. After the 1922 population exchange between Turkey and Greece, the village was inhabited by Greeks who had come from Asia Minor . In 1040 Peter Delyan led an Bulgarian uprising against the Byzantine Empire 1040 1041 uprising against the Byzantine Empire Byzantines and was proclaimed Emperor of Bulgaria . He quickly occupied the western Balkan lands from Belgrade to Larisa but in the next year he was betrayed by his cousin Alusian of Bulgaria Alusian , who deserted from the army and blinded him. Though blind, Peter Delyan remained in command and met the Byzantine Empire Byzantines near Ostrovo. The battle itself is unclear but the Bulgarians were defeated mainly with the help of the Varangian Guard . The fate of the Bulgarian leader is also unknown he may have perished in the battle.
