During the Albanian communist era, only people from the USSR were allowed to enter the country ruled by Enver Hoxha s communist regime. Other people were allowed from China, a country with a similar regime. Most of the people with origin from USSR were actually Russians, Ukrainians and Armenians, the latter having settled in the country as a result of the Union s penetration in the Warsaw pact countries. Most of the Armenians having come to Albania that period were soldiers serving the communist regime, or their families, having followed them.
