  1. Palladius of Ratiaria

Palladius of Ratiaria modern Archar Bulgaria was a late 4th century Arian Christian theologian, based in the East Roman Empire Roman province of Dacia in modern Bulgaria . He was deposed from his office, together with Secundianus of Singidunum , at the Council of Aquileia, 381 Council of Aquileia , held in 381 AD. The Council of Aquileia in 381 AD was a church synod which was part of the struggle between Arian and Christian orthodoxy orthodox ideas in Christianity. It was one of five councils of Aquileia . Palladius had applied to the Emperor of the East for an opportunity to clear himself before a general council of these charges concerning the Christology nature of Christ and was unwilling to submit to a council of the Western bishops only, for Ambrose had previously assured the Emperor of the West that such a matter as the soundness or heresy of just two bishops might be settled by a council simply consisting of the bishops of the Diocese of Italy alone. Politics and Christology were inextricably entangled in the 4th century You have contrived, as appears by the sacred document Gratian s amended convocation which you have brought forward, that this should not be a full and General Council in the absence of our Colleagues we cannot answer , was Palladius stand. Ambrose proposed that Arius letter from Nicomedia to Alexander, bishop of Alexandria, should be read in detail, and Palladius be called upon to defend or condemn each heretical proposition that disputed Catholic orthodoxy. Arius had said that the Father alone is eternal the Catholics insisted that the Son was co eternal. Palladius quoted Scripture, which Ambrose skirted. Ambrose rested upon the verbal formulas recently agreed upon by authority of the Church, while Palladius refused to admit the legitimacy of the proceedings. The other bishops unanimously pronounced anathema on all counts, and the matter was settled. The surviving partial transcript of the proceedings reveal the character of Ambrose and the manner ...   more details

  1. Andis

Andis is a variant of Andes, a personal name popular among the Illyrians inhabiting the territory of what is now Bosnia and Herzegovina , more specifically the southern parts of ancient province of Panonia and much of the northern parts of ancient Dalmatia . ref Wilkes, J. J. Due to a widespread distribution of names like Andio, Andena, Andinus, found throughout the entire territory inhabited by ancient Illyrians, we can presume that the pertinent root word is and . Andes resembles and sounds like some ancient Greek language Greek name, with the word ending of es , as opposed to names with more typically Illyrian name endings, o , and on , such as that found in a more Illyrian sounding variant Andio , found too throughout the Illyrian territories, but predominantly in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Coincidentally or not, Andes literally represents an Albanian Dative case of Anda Albanian Dative case for nouns ending in a end with suffix es e.g. Nominative case And a Dative case And es Nom. Plak a Dat. Plak es etc. . However, if Andes were an Albanian name, then it is most likely to represent the Genitive case English of Anda, or belonging to Anda Albanian i And es , with prefix i diminished in the name and not the Dative, given that names and surnames traditionally and technically represent the Genitive case, also known as Possessive case or Second case e.g. O Connor of Connor , Johnson Son of John etc. . ref Axhanela Ad anela Ardian, Ethnolinguistic overview of ancient Illyrian tribe names in Bosnia and Herzegovina , in article Illyrian Bosnia and Herzegovina An Overvie ...   more details
