    Unreferenced date December 2009 Sri Aurobindo Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual was first published in Calcutta in 1942. It was the first publication in which Savitri book Savitri appeared in installments, in 1946 and 1947. The Great Aranyaka , a translation and commentary on the first chapter, first Brahmana of the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad , appeared in the Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual in 1953. A number of Sri Aurobindo s early plays, dating from the Baroda period and the early period in Pondicherry, were also first published in it. These include Rodogune was dated February 1906, just before Sri Aurobindo left Baroda for Bengal, and was published in Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual, 1958, and also issued in book form in the same year. The Viziers of Bassora was written in Baroda, and later recovered from the Government Archives in 1951 along with other manuscripts which had been exhibits in the Alipore Conspiracy Case. This play was published in the Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual in 1959, and also appeared in book form in the same year. Eric was written in Pondicherry in 1912 or 1913 first published in Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual, 1960, and also published as a book in the same year. The administrative headquarters of the district are located in Ahwa . The Dangs have an area of 1764 km and a population of 186,729 as of 2001 . ref http www.censusindiamaps.net page India WhizMap IndiaMap.htm ref History Before Independence several wars were fought between the five tribal kings of Dang and the British. According to the history of Dang, the biggest ever war took place at Lashkaria Amba , in which kings of all five erstwhile states got together to protect Dang from British rule. The British were beaten and decided to discontinue war and resorted to compromise. As per historic compromise treaty was signed in 1842 according to which the Britishers were allowed to use the forests and their natural products against which they had to pay certain amount around 3,000 silver coins to the five kings of the then monarchy. However, currently the kings are offered monthly political pension by the Government of India, which is the main source of their income. This payment is continued even though all privy purses for the Princely states of India was stopped in 1970 since the agreement was between then monarchy of Dangs and the British. Every year during the financial end the Kings gather in Ahwa for a traditional royal ceremony in their richly decorated buggies, bands with tribal dancers to receive the payment as per the agreement of 1842. He participated in the Indian independence movement , which resulted in his expulsion from college. Biography In 1960, his short story , entitled Neelakoduveli , was awarded first place in a competition conducted by the Kerala Dhwani newspaper. The children s book, Ithu Nammute Naatanu , came first in the competition held by Sahitya Pravarthaka Sahakarana Sangam . Later, in 1962, his story about a rogue elephant, Ottayan , won first prize in the contest held by Southern Language Book Trust . It was later translated to all South Indian languages. After his marriage to Dr. R. Leela Devi , they started their literary career together. As he required more time for his writing endeavours, he resigned his job as a high school teacher. They compiled the first Malayalam Encyclopedia in 1967. Thereafter he continued his activities together with his wife until her death in 1998. Together they translated most of the Sanskrit Vedic period Vedic works including the Veda s, Purana s, Aranyaka s, Upanishad s, darsana Dharsana s, Mahabharata , Ramayana Valmiki Ramayana , Devi and Bhagavata Purana to Malayalam .     Erkkara Raman Nambudiri 1898 1983 was a famous rauta High Priest and scholar who helped to revive the ancient Vedam Yajnam traditions in Kerala , India , that had begun to decline due to the onslaught of Western culture and influence after Indian Independence. Early life Erkkara Raman Nambudiri was born on Mithunam 2, 1073 ME June 1898 on Karthika star to Erkkara Vasudevan Somayaajipad and Perindeeri Chennaath Mahal Sreedevi Pathinaadi in Kerala , India . After his Upanayanam and basic education under Muriyath Achyutha Varier, he received training under his father in the Rigvedam the entire text . At the age of 12 Samaavarthanam was performed ritual for completion of Vedic education . Then, when he was 24, he earned accolades in a difficult and mentally and physically tiring Aadhwaram role in a Saagnikamathiraathram in Kavapra Maarath Mana. This was followed by his role as Sadasyan an expert observer adviser in the Pakaraavoor and Neddham Yaagams. At the young age of 27 he performed Pryshaarttham Parayuka , which is reserved for the great Vedic scholars in another Yaagam in Paanjaal Thottam Mana.
