Sources for this state come from texts that can be divided into three categories Assyria n annals, Aramaean texts, and the Hebrew Bible . The largest portion of the textual sources come from Assyria. There are, however, often several copies of the same texts. Most of the texts are annals from the Assyrian kings Shalmaneser III , Adad Nirari III , and Tiglath Pileser III . The texts mention Aram Damascus from an Assyrian perspective, but are in many ways informative of the strength of the state, and give us several names of its rulers. Aramaean royal inscriptions are rare, and only one royal stele from Aram Damascus proper has been identified &mdash the Tel Dan Stele . Other sources in Aramaic that shed light on the history of Aram Damascus include two booty inscriptions from Eritrea and Samos Island Samos , and the Zakkur stele . 1. Aram Shah

Refimprove date June 2011 Aram Shah 1210 1211 was the second sultan of the Mamluk Sultanate Delhi Mamluk Sultanate Slave Dynasty . ref name Srivastava cite book title The Sultanate of Delhi, 711 1526 A.D. author Ashirbadi Lal Srivastava publisher Shiva Lal Agarwala year 1966 pages 92 93 ref The relationship of Aram with Qutb ud din Aibak 1206 1210 is a subject of controversy. According to some, he was Aibak s son, but Minhaj us Siraj distinctly writes that Qutub ud din only had three daughters. Abul Fazl has made the astonishing statement that he was the Sultan s brother. A modern writer has hazarded the opinion that he was no relation of Qutub ud din but was selected as his successor as he was available on the spot. In fact, there were no fixed rules governing the succession to the Crown in the Turkish State. It was determined largely by the exigencies of the moment and the influence of the Chihalgani or Corp of Forty . The Chihalgani, who were the administrative and military elite of the Ilbari tribe, crowned him king thinking that he would be able to deal with the problems facing the Sultanate. Aram was ill qualified to govern a kingdom. The Chihalgani soon conspired against him and invited Shams ud din Iltutmish , then Governor of Badaun, to replace Aram. Iltutmish responded to their call, and, advancing with all his army, defeated Aram in the plain of Jud near Delhi in 1211 .What became of Aram is not quite certain.
