about the group of French artists other uses of apache Apache disambiguation Les Apaches or Soci t des Apaches was a group of French musicians, writers and artists which formed around 1900. Members of the group included Edouard Benedictus , painter and composer M.D. Calvocoressi , writer and music critic Maurice Delage , composer Manuel de Falla , composer L on Paul Fargue , poet Lucien Garban , publisher D sir Emile Inghelbrecht , conductor Pierre Haour Gomez de Riquet an imaginary member Tristan Klingsor , poet, painter, art theorist Maurice Ravel , composer and pianist Florent Schmitt , composer Paul Sordes , painter Igor Stravinsky , composer Ricardo Vi es , pianist Emile Vuillermoz , music critic The name was taken up by the group after inadvertently bumping into a newspaper seller who exclaimed Attention les Apache gang apache s . They soon adapted the name, which literally refers to the Native American apache tribe, but had the additional meaning in French of hooligans . Ravel suggested that they adopt the first melody of the Alexander Borodin Borodin 2nd Symphony as their theme, an idea with which they all agreed. The group met each Saturday, most often at the home of Sordes alternatively, they would meet at that of Klingsor. The group had rallied around Claude Debussy s opera Pell as et M lisande opera Pell as et M lisande in a particularly controversial effort. Ravel dedicated the movements of his piano work Miroirs to members of the Apaches. References http www.maurice ravel.net friends.htm apache Apaches , at Maurice Ravel Frontispice . Elephant is the title of a United Kingdom British publicinformationfilm about the importance of wearing a seatbelt in the rear of a car . It was first broadcast in 1993 and continued until 1998, when it was replaced by the Julie PublicInformationFilm Julie campaign. The film, shot entirely in black and white save for a streak of red in the closing shot , shows four friends driving along an ordinary street. The driver and the passenger sitting behind him are not wearing their seatbelt s. When the car crashes into another vehicle ahead, computer imagery shows the unrestrained back seat passenger morphing into an elephant to demonstrate that in a collision at 30 miles per hour, a passenger not wearing a seatbelt can be thrown forward at the force of 3 and a half tons, equivalent to an elephant charging directly at the person in front. The weight of the elephant forces the driver through the windscreen , and the front seat passenger gapes in horror as the camera closes in on the driver s body and the wreckage of the car. This was the last publicinformationfilm about seatbelt s to use the Clunk Click Every Trip slogan, here abbreviated to an onomatopoeic Clunk Click appearing in time with the soundtrack. Although it is not strictly a PublicInformationFilm , it is often considered to be so by fans of the genre. The film, which was shown in schools all over Great Britain , is based around a young boy suffering a disfiguring and or fatal accident when he trespasses on a railway line, with three different versions being made to demonstrate the dangers of both electrified and non electrified lines. When it was first released, all three versions were narrated and introduced by Peter Purves , later replaced by Keith Chegwin when the films were revised. Robbie was written and directed by Ronald Dunkley and produced by James Ritchie director James Ritchie . It was a replacement for the controversial and extremely graphic The Finishing Line , and was itself later replaced by a more modern film called Killing Time . Plot All three variants of the film show Robbie, a young boy of about 10 years old with a keen interest in both trains and Association football football , being persuaded by his elder brother to climb through a hole in the fence surrounding a nearby railway line and go onto the track. The three different editions continue as follows Version 1 non electrified railway lines As he is walking along the railway line, Robbie gets the laces of his football boots caught in the track, and desperately tries to pull his feet free. We then hear and see a train approaching. The shoelace then pops and Robbie stumbles back in time, but trips on the other tracks, then we hear and see another train approaching. Julie is the title of a United Kingdom British publicinformationfilm PIF about the importance of wearing a seatbelt in the rear of a car. It ran on national television from 1998 to 2003 , and was so successful it was also shown in France , Germany and Australia as well as being remade by Royal Dutch Shell for broadcast in Libya . The 60 second PIF shows a middle aged woman, Julie, driving her son and daughter to school in a red Vauxhall Cavalier Vauxhall Cavalier MK3 . She and her daughter are wearing their seatbelts, but the young son is not. A voiceover announces Like most victims, Julie knew her killer. On the screen, we see Julie is so concerned with trying to avoid a van which appears to be following her that she s not concentrating on the road ahead. She crashes into a parked car Vauxhall Astra Vauxhall Astra MK2 by the side of the road. Her son, who is sitting directly behind her, is thrown forward, killing her instantly as her human skull skull is smashed in by his weight. The film ends as we see her lifeless body slumped across the wheel and hear the horrified screams of her daughter in the front passenger seat. It originally carried the slogan Belt up in the back. For everyone s sake. and later Think Always wear a seatbelt. Since 5 November 2007 , Think have begun airing the PIF in a shorter, 30 second advert. It was chosen over the Backwards campaign due to the fact it carried a more meaningful message for rear seat passengers to wear their seatbelts.
