Siege of the Saxons is a 1963 in film 1963 United Kingdom British film directed by Nathan H. Juran and released by Columbia Pictures . It is a historical epic, set in the time of King Arthur . The historical setting is very confused it shows the Romano British Arthur repelling an invasion of the Saxons , but Arthur s court contains details taken from medieval England , e.g. carrying a coat of arms combining the England English lion and the France French fleur de lis . The film uses lots of footage from the earlier Columbia Arthur ian film, The Black Knight film The Black Knight , starring Alan Ladd , which had a bigger budget. The armour the hero dons is an exact copy of Alan Ladd s in order to preserve continuity, along with other efforts, such as making the costume colours of the various factions the same. The film also uses footage from some of Columbia s Robin Hood films.
