Geshe Rabel is one of the 105 woreda s in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia . Located at the eastern edge of the Ethiopian highlands in the Semien Shewa Zone Amhara Semien Shewa Zone , Geshe Rabel is bordered on the south by the Gera Midirna Keya Gebriel , on the west and north by the Debub Wollo Zone , and on the east by Antsokiyana Gemza the Wanchet River defines its western boundary. The name of this woreda is a combination of the name of a district of the former province or kingdom of Shewa , Gishe , and its administrative center, Rabel, Ethiopia Rabel . Elevations in Geshe Rabel range from about 1200 meters along the Wanchet to over 3000 meters above sea level in the ridge of mountains that run near the eastern border of this woreda.
