Orphan date December 2010 Unreferenced date July 2008 Korean Contemporary Christian music or Korean CCM refers to Contemporary Christian music written or played in South Korea . Due to the dramatic growth of Christianity in Korea , CCM has been gaining popularity among Korean Christians. History After the Korean War , missionaries from the United States brought gospel songs to Korea. Most of the songs were from US Church schools and Southern gospel songs popular in 1950s and 60s. On November 2, 1969, at Gyeongdong Church in Seoul , Korean pop singers Cho Young Nam , Choi Young Hee and Twinpolio sang gospel songs on Sunday service, which was controversial among Korean Christians. From the following year, Jo started to release CCM albums. In 1974 , Roman Catholic nuns released an album which contained songs translated from US gospels. The songs were pop music with Christian content. Yesujeondodan was founded in 1973 by a missionary, Oh Dae Won. Yesujeondodan not only translated a lot of gospel songs to Korean language Korean but composed their own CCM songs. 1. Tongyeong Contemporary Music Festival

Tongyeong Contemporary Music Festival is known as an archetype of TIMF Tongyeong International Music Festival . It was held in Tongyeong , Korea, within almost the same prospectus as in TIMF, including the spirit to commemorate Isang Yun , a renowned composer who was born in Tongyeong . This festival took place in 2000 and 2001. Isang Yun s disciples are known as the initiating organizers of this festival, and they were encouraged by the success of a singular concert titled Night of Isang Yun s Music which was held in 1999. Based upon this success, they wanted to develop it into a new form of a music festival with a series of concerts for consecutive days. Two years festivals were found to be very successful, and this success enabled Tongyeong citizens to dream of a more developed format of a music festival. Their public opinions eventually moved the municipal government and other related institutions to call for the required budget and form a legal entity to manage the developed version of the festival. The development became TIMF Tongyeong International Music Festival , while TIMF Foundation was established to take charge of managing TIMF.
